On one hand I want a focus st or 197 and on the other I want a vx220 or elise. Would love an exige but of my budget at the moment.

The way prices are going, I'd hold onto the 182 until an exige is within range. You'll end up wasting thousands otherwise, by a new car, run it mod it etc, then end up getting an exige anyway. Enjoy the 182 (do some advance driver training, track days) then get the exige.
