Scored discs use or replace?

On my last track day I accidently burnt through my new pads down to the limit and then had to drive home, by the time I'd got home I noticed some lovely scoring (<1mm in parts) on my HC discs which were brand new (70 track/50 road miles). So do I bin or use them? I've got some part worn OE pads I could use to flatten them out before fitting new race pads, or is it not worth the risk versus cost of new? Just seems a waste.

I'll get some pics later on.

If in doubt bin them. At a guess they will probably be fine but it would allways be there for me. New £40, job done

imo :)

Not meaning to go against people here, but I've never had a problem with scored discs. Sometimes grit gets in the brakes on rallies, and scores the discs, but I've never found it to cause a loss in braking performance at all.

The discs attached. I reckon with a good few hundred miles with some hard braking getting them nice and hot with my part worn OE pads they should be OK to pair with a set of CL5+?

Well there's nothing to be lost by giving it a try, I'd use them on mine tbh, unless I noticed a drop in braking performance.

Personally, I'd be ordering a new set from George (@George@RTR_Parts).

Apart from looking a bit naff, brakes (along with tyres) are one area that I don't cut corners on - especially when past their best. Yes, it's a pisser that they have done little distance compared to the cost - but I'd be buying some more. It would always be in the back of my mind if something happened and I hadn't replaced them.

Update: fitted the OE brakes back on yesterday and after 30 minutes of some nice heavy braking from all different speeds the discs are looking much better, I've only got 50/50 bias at the minute so once I've fitted the new ABS sensor and the bias goes back to 90/10 or whatever it is they will clean up nice over the next few weeks to couple up to some new RC5+ pads for my track day at Aintree on the 28th.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Looks more like pad deposits than scoring to me, it'll soon clean off IMO

Its just this side (attached) of one disc which is quite badly scored, but a few more hundred miles of aggressive braking will flatten it out nicely. The other 3 sides are now pretty much smooth again after only 30 minutes.
