Scorpion rs192 to decat or not.

  Clio 182
So having bought back my old clio 182 and its had a bit of an overhaul (new shocks brakes exhaust) I've fitted cooksports springs and some turini alloys but thinking my next move should maybe be a decat.

Got a few questions for you knowledgeable folk..

I wanna do it right so I'm probably gonna buy a new decat and the front fitting kit. I've noticed the decat has a weird joint (olive joint?) from decat to centre. Are these new gaskets and clamps easy to find as not having much luck?

Lastly is it worth fitting one of the lamda sensor fooler simulator things that you screw into the cat then fit the lambda or do they not work? I really don' want a eml to be on 24/7.

Cheers

The olive joint doesn't have a gasket, use high temp silicone and a good clamp.

I wouldn't bother with the labda fooler, itl still fail an emissions test anyway so either put up with the light and turn it off when you put the cat back on for the MOT or a remap can stop the light coming on.

I used the rs tuner on my decat 182 and never saw the light again.

My scorpion decat had a hole for the lambda and no eml light. I just couldn't get the fecker to seal properly from the centre pipe to decat. I went through 3 clamps and a full tube of loctite orange high temp silicone over the 6 months and it'd always start blowing again. In the end I just had it welded up.

Looking back I should have found a v band clamp but at the time couldn't find one wide enough to fit over the trumpet/olive joints.

Yeah it seems a bit of a weird joint. First I've came across anyway. Just wondered if its worth getting a new clamp but can't seem to find one anywhere... not sure what you mean by v clamp. Coukd always have a sleeve made? The front fitting kit will prob be a must as imagine the current wee springs and bolts are almost done for.

My mate has a lambda simulator I can have for nout. If it stops the light coming on that's all I'm really after as I should be ok come mot time (I know a guy...)

If the eml comes on is it worth going for the rs tuner map or just your run if the mill remap? Teo of my pet hates are blowinf exhausts and loghts on the dash... maybe this isnt a good idea! haha

Are you running a cat-back system? If so depending if you have a mid-box or how free flowing it is will depend on how much louder your car will be. My track car and also previous cars that ive had de-cat on get a 1/3 louder at least. No massive improvement for the hassle it can sometimes be to get fitted/sealed properly and swapped over at MOT time, bit of a nothing mod in honestly apart from the noise and the car feeling like it 'revs' better. This of course would change with a highly modded engine, but I wouldn’t say the cat would ever be the biggest limiting factor, especially a 182 one which is essentially a sports cat anyway.

It has a non res cat back rs192 exhaust at the moment. It sounds resonated to me but that probably because it seems quite quiet compared to the non res cobra I have on my 350z. It does feel a bit strangled in the revs but it' probably just the lack of noise that's making me think that.

Not looking for much in the way if gains... just heard with the decat and a remap it should smooth everything out a bit. The cars only cover 49k so I'm hoping it' still a fairly healthy engine
