Searching for ways to run the engine cooler

Since fitting the ITB's the engine is running a fair bit hotter and im pretty sure the fan is playing up and not coming on at the correct temperature.

Sitting in traffic for any more than 5 minutes my coolant temp guage will start to work its way up over the half way mark so im planning on upgrading a few things.

- First being a new radiator, so that its also sitting lower than the bodies. Does it matter how thick it is, or should I look for something that holds the same amount of coolant? Where from? or are there any rads from other models / makes of cars that could be a good upgrade. I heard polo rads could be an option

-How do peoples upgraded fans work as far as are they thermostatically controlled like standard? or an override switch in the cabin for trackdays etc?

- Would getting an oil cooler be handy, I could be wrong but if the oil is running slightly cooler then the engine overall should be running slightly cooler?

Whats your thoughts guys?

you have omex dont you? theres an output for a fan relay... run the fan off that and then you can map the temps you want it to cut in and out at etc

Ah ok I might look at that ditz, wheres the fan relay or know what pin the output for the fan is?

I'll do that aswell daniel, done a few searches but still don't know what row to go for. 13 for fast road and 16 for often trackdays, is that right?

the engine won't run any hotter just because it has throttle bodies

did the people that installed your ecu leave the oe ecu controlling the fan? (ie is there a second coolant sensor on the thermostat housing)

I installed the ecu fred and im pretty sure the OE ecu is still running the fan. I have a second coolant sensor installed though.

have you kept the stock ECU and stock temp sensor?

Pretty easy to wire in control from the omex, only a single wire to a relay, then just setup on and off temps

Yeah stock ecu and temp sensor still connected. Presumable I could just wire into the relay that currently controls the fan?

  ITB'd MK1
yes, just need to identify the wire from the stock ecu that fires the relay, and swap it for the fan control wire from the Omex IIRC. Some cars you have to change the polarity of the relay, but pretty sure the clio is strightforward

Anyone know the ecu pinout for the fan so I don't have to spend hours with a multimeter :(
