Seat Belt, MOT, Seats?!

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
Hi all,

The rear seat belt (drivers side) in my Clio doesn't work. It simply doesn't allow me to click the belt in.

Now, this doesn't bother me at all, as I've never had anyone in the back seats.

However, my M.O.T is up in a month so I'm booking it in soon. What I was wondering is, will this fail me? I'd assume it would as its a seat belt, kind of essential.

I was thinking of ways to get round it, as I don't want to spend money i frankly dont have on a new one and then go through the hassle of fitting it.

Now, if I took out my rear seats for the MOT, would that mean they wouldn't test the belts? You don't need a seat belt if there isn't a seat ;) Would be fairly easy to do, I've had them out before to have a clean up, so won't take long.

This may not work, was wondering if anyone here would know?

Cheers
Ry

When I took my Dads old Vclass Mercedes for an mot the rear seats were folded down and the bloke said the seats weren't in use so he didn't check the belts.

Not sure about the seats but I have had 2 rear seat belt holders break on me in 6 months, bearing in mind I never use them. Sure it must be a common fault! they are a bit of a pain to replace i agree! cant be assed to do mine yet.

Yes it would be a fail.
As you say if you take the seats away they cannot test them, when I took my pug 307 sw for its MOT last year I was given an advisory as it can take 7 seats and the belts are there but I only had the normal configuration, so he could not test the belts.
