Seat handles... How can such a small job be so annoying!!

As I bought the Clio with a list of faults, one of the smaller niggles was the driver seat handle being snapped along with the tilt and slide not working.

Bought a new handle and thought it should be oh so simple. Two bolts and pull, what could go wrong?? Two bolts and... it feels like it's welded in place still!!

Not wanting to break anything further I scoured the threads on here and it looks like quite a few people have had the same issue and just left it as being a ballache to fix.

Undeterred I finally managed to get it off without breaking anything.

1) After undoing the two screws, jimmy up the bottom left and bottom right corners.

As you slide a screw driver under there isn't much travel until it stops. At that point lever the screw driver and youu'll hear a crack that sounds like you've snapped something and the cover doesnt appear to have moved. Do this to both sides and it still doesn't move very far due to the cable still being connected.

2) From here slowly lever the bottom of the back plate up and the remainder of the handle will lift with it. It's really tight to lift and also the two clips at the bottomwill snag on the seat cover so you'll need to guide them out.

3) Once you've prised it up you can get a small torx screw driver under the bottom and unscerw the bolt at the back of the lever, which will then pop off.

4) Refitting, was a massive balll ache!! It's the first screw for the back of the lever that is the awkward part. You have to lever up the back of the handle with the cable attached until it is high enough to get the bolt through the back and then hold this up with a screwdriver in the back of the bolt.

5) Then with your free hand put the backing plate in place followed by the handle.

6) From here you need to press down on the handle while pressing up on the screwdriver as well as screwing everything back together. Which would be nice and easy if the cable wasn't trying to pull everything back down!!:dapprove:

After a while the screw goes tight but the handle still feel sloppy, you have to give it some but keep tightening it until it stops fully. Just be careful not to go too tight and crack the plastic!!

7) After that it's poop the two bottom clips back in followed by the screws and your done.

Now to fix the tilt and slide!!:S

Sorry, yes. On a phase 2 Cup.

It's not the best of guides but I found several threads where people have asked but nobody gave info.

Thought it better to share even if it is only minor info.
