1. The cable may have snapped.
2. The cable may have dislodged from its mount on the seat frame.
3. A foriegn object (pen etc) has fallen into the seat runner, jammimg the mechanism.
1 & 2 require the seatback cover to be partially removed to gain access to the cable.
3. Visual inspection of the seat runner with a torch.
