Seatbelt Question

I've bought a new seatbelt for the clio and have noticed there's a little plug on the bottom. I've looked at my old one and it has the same.

What's this for ? Is it somit to do with the air bags?

If so, how do I go about changing this? Do I need to disconnect the battery to avoid the air bag problem?
How long do I need to disconnect it before I remove the belts?

It won't put any dash lights on will it?

Disconnect the battery to be safe.

It'll be for the pretentioner. It fires off and tightens/locks the belt in a crash to stop you flying forward.

Is there a set amount of time i have to have the battery disconnected for ?
