Second gear problem

Hello people , this is my first post and im not the most technically minded guy
I have a notch 2-3 and 1-2 gear shift
I can sometimes avoid it by dipping the clutch and holding it until the revs drop but sometimes it still notches
Out of the blue while i was looking for a parking space i couldn't find 2nd gear, it just jumps to neutral
I was thinking the linkage came off or could this this be a rebuild gearbox project

I got a clio 172 cup 53 plate

My car is the same nearly, somtimes won't get first gear on the first attempt, second gear won't engage wen the car is above 6000 rpm. Rather annoyin as I was at a quarter mile day wen I noticed the second gear issue.

I'm also hopin its the linkage or a mount rather than the box itself!!

ummm its almost certainly (without massively generalising) going to be failing syncro's pretty common with 1*2 boxs

400+ for box refurb or find a secondhand box for 250-400...

Burp can point people in the right direction

Second hand boxes are gonna have the same problem sooner or later
Does anyone know some near London where I can drive there and leave the car?
I don't really want someone who will rerurb the box but wont take/put it back in the car

Just drove on so e b roads for 100 miles
Somehow I've got 2nd back, maybe loose likangae or something

Wanted to change gearbox oil
I hear Renault sometimes put the wrong one

Any know the best brand and viscosity for 172 cup

ELF Tranself 75W80, I was told it was the only oil Renault will put in a JC5 box. I had my gearbox rebuilt and after got abit of resistance going into to third from fourth, changing the oil to ELF solved this.

maybe fresh oil and check of the dog bount mount before you start flapping -

Best way to check is to put the handbrake on and sit on the biting point if you hear it rattling it's shot.

If not it'll most certainly be syncro

Change the oil.. 75w80 GL5

Check dogbone mount..
