Securing an Amp?

Want to attach my amp to the back of the rear seats in the boot, but I cant find anything solid to attach it to. All i can feel is springs.

How has everyone else managed this?

or where are other people's amps?

Mines mounted to the top of my sub, the subs literally take up the whole boot as they're twin 15".
If I remember rightly my mate mounted brackets to the back of the rear seats, There should be a couple of standard holes in the seats already is there not?

You think it will hold with velcro to the back of the seats?

Also, i see there are zips around the seat to take off the cover, however i cant see the actual zip part that you pull.. just the teeth.

Yeah some heavy duty velcro should work ok mate. Also there are vertical support bars just inside the fabric of the seatback, if you make a small hole either side of these uprights in the desired position you could then feed ty-wraps (cable ties)through and behind the bars to fasten your amp to.

daz... do you know how to remove the seat cover. There appears to be Phantom zips with no zip slider! lol

how about just making a simple false floor? just a thin pieace of mdf cut to the shape of the boot, slip it under the carpet then screw the amp down to it, then can attatch the sub box to it too if u have one, stop it slipping about

I thought about that, but would like access to the spare wheel.

It would also vibrate like a b**ch i imagine lol.

have you posted this on TA im sure ive answered your question on there, if you need any pics pm me and il take some tommorow for you

clio seats can be unzipped, look where the main bracket is in between both rear seats and feel around the corner the zips usually be folded back into the seat so will have to be pulled out.

once youve done that get a pice of mdf and place it on the seat mark where the seats supports are (thin bits of metal running across and up the seat) drill a couple of holes in the wood and tie clip it to the seat, zip it back up and screw amp to wood

whoa, nice simple one for you

to mount anything on the side wall, remove the carpet, and no more nails a small section of MDF to the metalwork, there you now have a base to screw into, re-fit the carpet and fit and mdf board with for the amp

job done
