Serious Problem...urgent help required!! :(

  No more clio's for me!
Just spent the past three hours cleaning my car, now i've just started it up at the rev's jump straight up to 2k rpm and then climb to 3k rpm. The exhaust and engine are violently shaking, and it's got a serious case of the splutters!! The car moves, as i've rocked it back and forth in gear, but as soon as i dip the clutch the rev's climb really quick. Whats happening? It was fine yesterday!:S :S

I've a hillpower i/k on it, but thats been on before for months with no problems, it seems like the trottle is jammed open????

What can i do??? Help me!! :( :( :(

Anyone local to malvern, with any techy no how wanna come over to help?

Dan.
:dead:

P.s There's no warning lights on the dash or anything like that.

could be missing? check plug leads etc

Plugs and leads appear to be fine, its idolling at 2750 rpm! :S

How do you reset the ECU? Or check it or test it??

Sounds like it gone into limp mode with the high idle, somethings possibly got wet. I'd try disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few hours to dry out, then try again.

Cheers bmh.01, disconnected the batt, i'll get it a bit a see what happens, fingers crossed!

Hope it doesn't cause any other issues with the alarm etc??

Not sure with the alarm as I haven't got one, if it causes any issues I would imagine theres something in the manual about it if not i'm sure someone on here knows.
Should be ok I would have thought as its just the standard renault fit cobra jobbie.

Right, i left the batt disconnected for an hour and a half, being a little impatient i wanted to see if it sholved the problem. No.

This time only rev's up to 2000rpm as idol. But it sound like a bag of spanners. Can someone else suggest anything?

I'm really stuck and all out of ideas! :(

Daz - No, just a normal outside clean, did chuck a bucket of water over it tho to rise it off! Could it be water ingress?? I can't see any signs of water inside the engine bay tho :S

does sound like waters possibly got in somewhere. I would try giving everything inside the engine bay a good coating of WD-40. Leave bonnet open for a while then try again.

lol, u didn't spray "tyre back to black" or "alloy wheel cleaner" in the air intake? That stuffs full of ether and esters. :)

ive done it by accident be4, makes the engine go crazy.

Glad you are following the hose pipe ban;) Take the car for a good flooring, just don't get stuck in traffic as you will look a bit daft with your revs up!
As others say, it could be in idle protect mode.

Problem solved guys! Thew! Mate of mine came to me rescue :)

It was the connection from the alternator to something just under the fuel rail guard (i have no idea what is it), whilst wiggling all the wires and checking all elecy connections, fiddled with this and the rev's instantly dropped. Switched off the engine and give it a good clean, cos it was really covered in crap, fired here up and all is good. Thank god.

I was really cacking my self i tell ya.
