SERV illuminated

Started my 182 today and the SERV light stayed on. The trip computer started to flash oil. Im assuming this means my car is to go for an oil change? The milage has just hit 7840 mile which I thought was an odd time for it to come on.

If it does need an oil change, whats the best option for this. Can someone tell me what kind of oil is needed. Think ive heard something about 5w40 but not sure about that.

Should I take it to the dealer and insist they put the correct oil in, how can i get them to proove they use the right stuff?

Also, if this is normal, has anyone else had their oil changed under the same circumstance and if so how much did it cost?

Have you checked the oil? When it flashes oil it usually means its got none in it

The SERV light shouldnt come on as well as the oil light. Sounds lke something else is wrong to me. Have you checked the oil level?

Just went out there and poped the bonnet, checkeed the oil level and everything was ok. SO I decided to start the engine again to see if SERV still lit up. Nothing, and the trip computer displays OIL OK. Wierd. Thanks for the help guys

yes i had this problem before and my car was low on oil and when parking on a slope triggered the oil and service light to come on. if i was you i would double check your oil m8 and make sure its up to the maximum
