I'm about to get my first ever service :rasp:

My car's in the past have either not been worth enough to warrant it, or on sky high miles. The Clio is the first I definitely wanna keep on top of! So... I hit 48k last night. Up until now the services have been...

12k @ Renault Romford
24k @ Toomey Renault
36k @ Paul Spalding Automotive

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a place that will look after my car well for a reasonable price? I have no qualms with going to my local garage up the road, but just asking for opinions/recommendations atm!

Do it yourself, wouldnt believe how much you can save.
But failing that, www.bbpt.co.uk in Chelmsford are really good, recommended.

Will using BBPT affect the warranty at all? Mine will be due a 2nd service in the summer, it's just good to get a heads up so I know how the wallet will be affected lol.

No it wont affect your warranty, aslong as you get the work done by a registered company then your fine, also worth knowing your allowed to miss one service without voiding your warranty.

No it wont affect your warranty, aslong as you get the work done by a registered company then your fine, also worth knowing your allowed to miss one service without voiding your warranty.

That must have changed then as the 3 years i worked at RUK Servicing was part of the T&C's of warranty and we declined MANY warranty claims due to missed services.

The T&C's stated that a service could be Late by 1 month or 1000 miles, But not missed all together.

As for getting a car that is still in warranty serviced outside of the manufacturer's network, this will not void you warranty providing the servicing garage is VAT registered (EG you cant do it yourself on your drive way) and that Renault Parts or part of an equivalent standard are used.

Its worth noting that you will still need to take a trip to your Renault dealership if you do have your car serviced outside of the network to get the Anti corrosion check done as this MUST be done within the network.

I asked the question when i picked up my 197 two weeks ago and the answer i got was that aslong as renault can claim against the company who did the work your fine, and that one service can be missed.

I personally would take that with a pinch of Salt.

As I said above the amount of claims we denied due to poor / lack of servicing was not small.

And as for Renault Claiming off the company who did you work, thats rubbish, Renault only deal with firms like Toomeys, Evans Halshaw, Renault London etc who they have franchises with, if you get your car serviced at your local garage and the f**k up, thats between you and that garage Renault will not want to know in any way shap or form.... TBH The Sales Person who told you the above should not be selling cars for a Franchise dealership if thats the kind of Info he is handing out, if you follow his "Trusted advice" your going to need very deep pockets

I can only give you the info he gave me, i wont be needing to deep pockets though cos someone drove into the car and wrote it off lol, so its kinda academic ay.

I've spoken to Mark Fish before over email regarding the cam/aux change, and he said no point in doing it until 5yrs/72k, I asked for a price anyway but he never got back to me.

I understand he is probably very busy though and have heard his name a lot on here so I'll definitely give him another shout about the service! Any ideas on price from people that have used him? And also where exactly he is in Essex?

servicing by a VAT registered company with OE quality is all you need for waranty upkeep. And that's the law currently.

I understand he is probably very busy though and have heard his name a lot on here so I'll definitely give him another shout about the service! Any ideas on price from people that have used him? And also where exactly he is in Essex?

Mark Fish is in Harlow, I've had my 24k and 36k service done with him and I think the 48k service you need is the same as the 24k I had but I can't find the invoice for that at the moment.

Simple question... but as I said I've never actually had a service done before. How long does a service take? Just wondering if I drive up to Chelmsford or Harlow do I hang around for the day lol.

Ren-o-tec have spare cars for you to use if they are available on the day you book it in.

Martin at Ren-o-tec will give you a car for the day if you need it and Mark Fish would drop you in town until he has done it.

For a service I would allow 1/2 a day at least, I usually leave mine and back for it the next day.
