Service light.. ?

Thinking of selling my mk1 RSi and buying a mk2 DCi, on the DCi i assume it has a service light which comes on when its due ? If so is there any way of turning it off by myself ? As the DCi will be self serviced at home... Plus anyone got one of these:

The service light, despite the name, doesn't indicate when the service is due.

It basically means "There's a problem of sorts".
