Services And Warranty Question

Hello all

When I bought my 1.2 in Feb I got 1years warranty fron Dixon Renault.
If says in my warranty book that in order to keep this intact it HAS to be serviced at Dixon Renault.
My Clios first ever MOT is due this month and I was thinking of putting it through for a service first. Ive nearly got 30,000 on the clock and the next service is at 36,000 at £250!

We all know they dont do much, that price is crazy!
Anyway, I was told due to the new European law, as long as I get a service stamp from another garage it will not void my warranty?

This true? Will be asking Renault, but need some more info so they dont just fob me off!

They do a bit of work at 36k nothing massive but they do some stuff.

As long as you get the work done with official parts then Renault will cover your warently, unless the garage who did the work were responsible for the misfitted parts that is.

Id shop around should be able to get it done for closer to £200

Well bollox to it, for the sake of £50 might as well just get Renault to do it

You think I should put it through a service before its MOT?
But would that void it for when my 36,000 service come up or will it maybe just pass the MOT without a service?

Dont suppose anyones got a list of what they check on an MOT so I can have a quick loko around and test a few things myself?

Id get it serviced before the MOT. Clean air filter and new plugs etc will help keep emmisions down so if you are near the limit youll be ok.

It is very likely to pass the MOT without a service but better to be safe. Having its MOT before or after service will have no effect on validity the service. The service just keeps you car running on clean oil etc the MOT checks its legal to use.

As for a list try http://www.rac.co.uk/carcare/advice/general_help/mot_checklist?view=Printhere

Its Dixons own used I believe. Im just thinking, If I service it now at another garage, will it still need another service at 36,000 miles?
Which is in around 7,000 miles time?
Or could I put it through its service 7,000 miles before hand or is it too soon?

if its dixons own then they may be funny if you dont service as per schedule and by them.

Well they wont be changing my filter ;)
Is 30.000 too early to service it then?
Nope you can have the servicing done any time you want I had my 18k done at 17k and the next 36k one will be done about 35k.

Theres no problem with early servicing but I think your supposed to add on so I my 36k service should be done at 35k as that would be 18k between servicing. This wouldnt have any impact realy though theres a % you have to pay regards warently work if you have the car serviced late, but thats only on warently work which would have been covered with proper servicing times.

PS there a 500 miles allowance on servicing I think.

But ive got a 6,000 mile difference. Think it will be ok? Just means my next service will sort of work out at a longer preiod from whenI had the previous one.

Ye all that it will means is your 6k ahead if you decide to do it so your next 54k service is at 48k.

If you dont have the spare cash might as well stick it in for the MOT is very likely to pass without the service and have your servicing done at the right sort of time. Even if it fails the MOT on emmisions etc you can always get it serviced and get it back for its free retest.
