servicing 2.0L RS Clios

  Ford Fiesta

My local dealers seem to be a bit slack when it comes to knowing what needs chaging and when, confusing the 2.0L clio to the other clios.

Been reading in the service book that accessories belt and pulleys need chaning every 36000 miles on the 2.0 whereas its 72000 for other clios, what are these parts exactly?

Does anyone work in a renault workshop, do they have a different service guide for every car that they can refer to in the workshop to see what needs doing and when on each model they work on?

on a similar note, the airbags need changing every 10 year, this will cost loads surely, including the removal of the bags form the seats and dash?

Fan belt, drives the alternator and possibly the aircon compressor.

36000 miles is the correct interval for changing these.

When the cars 10 yrs old its not worth much, so no one will pay to get the changed in my view. It would be expensive as there about £200 each so th 172 have £800 worth of parts alone needing replacing and they take a while to do.

Aux belt is changed at 36k the timming belt (which ones does the cams) is at 72k. The AUX belt is the one you see down the drivers side of the engine the timming belt is hidden behind a cover slightly further back going round the top of the head of the engine and to the crank.

right i have been informed by renault uk that the 172 infact does NOT need the belt doing at 36k. If the car was produced after may 1st 2002 then it will need this replacing @ 72k the same as all the other clios. I didnt think this was correct but have checked this twice and have been told it is correct. Check your handbook as it may have been made before May 2002 in which case it would be incorrect

I wouldnt worry.

A new engine wont be that much if the belt does break. Keep the money in your pocket.

so cam belt and fan belt at 36k then?
It seems accoring to Renault cambelt and aux belt at 72k.

I wouldnt chnage them any easier its just wasted money in my view Renault built it to survive 72k+ at least before it needs a new belt however its treated so I wouldnt spend extra money servicing it twice as often.

Ill be getting my aux belt done with the 36k service and cambelt done at around 40~45k if I keep it that long.
