Got a clio 172, just done over 6k miles and according to service booklet, gotta have oil change and filter. But the man at the Renault dealer garage says dont have to have it anymore (the oil cahange service at 6k), just the minor service when its 12k. Is that true, anyone else know that or did you just have the 6k oil and filter change?

Service every 6k, renault garages that dont have a clue go by what their computers tell them.. which is sack all
To be honest mate if they dont even know that a 172 needs servicing every 6k they probably dont know what there doing - dont go there!
It doesnt need servicing every 6K miles but an oil and filter change every 6K will keep it healthy. I just did 6K and got an oil and filter change. I have done it with all of my new cars. New cars tend to burn off a lot of oil during the running in period so it will need a top up at least.
