Servicing V6

Not sure if this is the right place for this, so move it if you wish.

Over the last period we seem to have more V6 owners than we did.

One thing that I have found is that very few Renault Garages understand the servicing schedule required for a V6 and they quote prices for other cars.

It is quite clear we require oiur cars serviced every 12k miles and what is required why cant they keep to this and quote the correct price.

Has any one used a garage that understands the cars and quotes the correct price.

All the best

well I rang to book the Vee in for its 12k service at JayBee Motors (where we bought it from) and they didnt seem to have any problems about it being 12k not 18k etc. so fingers crossed :D

John, had my 12k mile service, and it was only £140! I took it to Renault at Romford to start with, as Id heard bad rumours about Basildon Toomey Renault, but they couldnt get it on their ramps as its lowered an inch! (as its already pretty low, it didnt help much).

They asked why I didnt take it to my Renault at Basildon Toomeys as they are closer to me, and their ramps are made for lower cars, so I told em all the bad rumours Id heard about them! LOL. The guy was shocked to say the least, called the service manager at Toomey there whilst I was there, and told him what Id heard about them!! (ooops)

Wasnt expecting a nice welcome when I arrived!! But, they were pretty decent with me! (whilst I was there anyways..lol) Think it was worth the mention of the bad rumours, as they made sure it was well looked after! I think they realise now, customer feedback it pretty important, and will take good care of future V6s!

Been back a few times since, and Id recommend them now.. really helpful and a swift return of the car! They even gave me 10% off as a Cliosport member!! lol.;)

(Forgot to mention I did sit there waiting the whole time, while they did the work, to make sure they didnt feck around with it!)

v6ing,

my car is in toomey now waiting for the brand new gbox to arrive.

i originally got a nice greeting from the service manager steve, but now he is a total arse, i told them today that i dont like him. the only friendly guy there is paul, but he is abit lazy with returning calls etc.

i would use romford as i know one of the mechs and he would look after my car, but i work only 5 mins away from toomeys so its convenient.

id love to hear the rumors about toomeys over a PM if you can.

Jeremy,

I live near Reading.

At the 12k, 24k and the 36k service I have had to query the cost and in each case it has been reduced.

At the 24k service the garage charged me for fully synthetic oil at I think about £11.65 per litre and said they used 6.5 litres of oil.

is that jaybee banbury ???

thats where my vee is going for warranty .. are they any good ??.. the service manager said that he had 2 trained v6 techs .. when one of them came on a test run .. i asked the same question .. he said he wasnt !!! no one was .. that filled me with confidence !!!

yes, Banbury - its been in for a few minor (very minor) deals, the service desk are always very helpful, fit it in very quickly to have a look at it etc.

dunno about training, but they have dealt with a lot of V6s for the F1 team guys apparently.

I will be checking their quote against a different couple of garages though, just to see
