Servicing.

Hi all,

Looking to get my 172 Cup serviced on payday as it has slightly past 82,000 miles (85,500ish:eek:). My car has a full Renault service with every single reciept from them services. I was just wondering, Renault have quoted my just short of £200 to have it done, but do you think that i can get it cheaper around? I live in the Surrey area so if anyone knows any well known reputable Renault Specialists (like birchdown etc etc) that are near to me?

The other main thing is as I have said about the full Renault service history, do you think it might hold a slightly better resale value on the car if i keep doing it at Renault with all the reciepts and stamps to prove it? If the difference isnt great then I might be interested in a Renault Specialist instead.

Any help from you guys would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Nick

parts from Renault for the standard service interval have been costing me about £60-70 (half of which is the oil) - might give you some idea of how the parts/labour thing is divided. only guessing, but would have thought you'd be able to save on the total by finding someone whose labour rate is less than Renault's - call for some quotes?

FRSH is going to have some impact on resale value but, as they've stoned to a value of 3-4k, you're getting closer to the point at which it's likely to be more cost effective to maintain them elsewhere

if uve got frsh from new with that miledge then i would keep going there, the next buyer will love you

it's also worth having a good read of the service booklet as there are a number of jobs that are due at 3/4/5 yearly intervals; if they've not been done yet, they'd (presumably) be additional to what you've been quoted (which just sounds like a straight forward 12k interval, given that it's only £200)

if there's nothing else due, think i'd probably also take it to Renault to maintain the stamps, as don't think you'll save a great deal (may be £50-£100 labour?). but will you see that money back when you come to sell? not easy to assess really.

depends, as a buyer "in the know" i would rather see a car with history maintained at a specialist rather than with FRSH

Well after booking in my Cup into Renault for its service yesterday, I've been having doubts about whether it was worth £214 for an oil and oil filter change just to keep the stamp. So I got Ren-Tech's number and gave them a shout, he just gave me a price of £165 which is for oil/filter, pollen filter and an air filter! Wont need the air filter which cuts the price down, and I get more than what renault were going to do for less! I also asked them about a gearbox oil change, they said it was about £40 ontop of the price, not bad seeing as yesterday Renault said it would be an extra £100 ontop of there price!

So all in all very happy so far! Was looking around a few threads and seen quite a few people be like, 'After taking it to Ren-Tech, I wont be taking my car anywhere else', I think thats what made change my mind:)
