Setting Headunit Properly

Have just amped my direct Renault replacement pioneers and they sound allot better than before. I know what people hear and what they think sound good is very subjective. However do I need to set any High of Low pass filters up when amping components even though I do not have a sub-woofer.

Also is the loud function of a pioneer head unit any use or am I better playing directly with the equaliser and bass settings?

Hope that makes sense. I just want to try and get the best from my setup to any advice is appreciated.
