Setting up Camber using Camber Bolts?

Is it a specialised task, or should anyone with a decent alignment rig know how to do it?

Basically, if I fit my camber bolts myself and take it round the corner to Formula 1 Autocentres who have a laser alignment rig, will they know what they are doing in setting up camber?

Or am I better off taking it the 40 miles to K Tec and getting them to fit the bolts and do the alignment?

Why don't you just ask them, would be much easier.

Because, in all honesty, they are a bunch of stereotypical garage pikeys. They fit tyres and thats about it. The only reason I use them is because they have a Hunter balancing machine and a laser alignment rig.

They have the tools, just not sure if they have the skills. The kind of place where I would not be surprised to get a faked alignment report, if you get what I mean?

Has anyone had alignment and camber done at Formula 1 Autocentres?

Yeah but only on standard suspension. I wouldnt go back

I had mine done at Formula One Autocenter in Lincoln - they use the hunter system
The guy doing it told me I could watch them do it - it set the camber/caster/toe all to within 0.01mm of tolerances - the guy knew what he was talking about and asked me what toe in/out I wanted - and I gave him some settings I'd gotten from on here as "best for track" - it was spot on and I got a nice printout afterwards

I suppose it's only as good as the guys that work there - but saying they can't setup tracking when that's there job is a bit harsh LOL just go in and say it's a specific setup you would like and can they do that and how much will it cost - if it sounds like they don't understand what you're asking for walk away - no money lost

As above,just stay with them and don't leave the car there to be picked up later.

Like has been said above depends on the people actually doing it, doesn't take massively expensive equipment to set up Camber, but most places just can't be arsed with the hassle of doing anything other than what the computer tells them to do!

Just need to find somewhere that will actually set it to what you ask.. (Not like the garage I went to that warned me anymore than -1 degree of camber would destroyed my tyres in weeks! Tools!)

Yep, that's the one.

And that's the feeling I get from them. The manager comes across as a right piece of work.
