Shocks please help

  Clio sport 172
Hi all, recently bought some new front shocks. Having difficulty getting the top mount bolt undone.

I've tried undoing the 21mm bolt (with car on floor, not jacked) and the springs just spin round :s do you need to use the Allen key bit at the same time as holding the nut? Any help appreciated

You need to hold the strut in position with the allen key then undo the nut, but you could do it the other way round just to loosen it off. Mine were a b**ch, worth spraying with WD40/GT85/Plusgas and leaving them for a while before trying again, you don't want to round off the allen socket! When doing them back up they don't need to be ridiculously tight, unlike the strut to hub bolts which do. Think there is a thread somewhere on here with torque settings.

Impact gun & WD40 usually helps loosen them off if they're seized.
