B&M matey tho can be had a fair bit cheaper than the ktec price tho i also agree with what Dr Rollo said...the boxes take a lot of stick as standard..so is it wise to make them do anymore??

Whilst we are on the subject of 172 boxes - does anyone else find that changing down from 5th to 4th isnt really that easy to do quickly due to 5th being to far over???

I'd say they tend to fail at 60k, don't like abuse, if you don't cane them in 1st and don't change gear fast they "should" be ok.

i'm not doubting you as i know how many you've been through...

... BUT... i have 'caned' my box for the last 70k miles, and the owner before me done 20k on it. I change at anything from 5krpm - 7krpm most of the time, and do so very quickly.

... not had ANY problems

you ARE NOT shifting quicker with these, you are just shifting shorter

they're alright, but for 1st and 3rd you have to lean forward a bit to select the gear

Have mine also +- 70 000 miles. I abuse it every time and no problems at all.
Standard 4th to 5th is soooooooooooo long
