Should I buy a Clio???????

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Hello,
I'm seriously considering purchasing a Clio 172 Cup. I wondered if you could spare your knowledge on what the reliability is like in owning one? Also sevicing costs etc. Also any faults to look for when checking one over?
This information would be of GREAT help to me. Thank you for you time.
Kind regards,
Mark.:)

Servicing is quite cheap depends where you go none Renault £150 for a minor ever 12k/2 years if you follow Renault rules then there the aux belt at 36k which is cheap on a Cup to do then the 72/5years (again if you follow Renault rules) which is expensive £550 or so your looking form a none Renault dealership for the work.

As for faulty best go drive one if you like it pay membership and read the above threads (or do a bit of digging as the posts have been posted int he free to view areas before)

  Classic Mini Cooper
Hello mate, I didn't own a cup but had a mk 2 phase 2 172, and as for reliability over the 6 years I owned her she never let me down engine wise, but as with most Renaults the interior build quality leaves a lot to be desired, I had loads of bits fall off or break, luckily all under warranty, one thing to look out for is that the rear exhaust boxes are prone to rusting and falling off, happened 3 times on mine! But I got a full magnex on mine so that solved that problem. The rear wheel bearings can fail prematurely, mine did twice! They can be heavy on brakes, obvioulsy depending how it has been driven, and make sure it has a full service history. The rubber gaiters on the front suspension can split and then p*ss grease all over the front discs, and you can get ominous knocking from the front joints, but againdepends on if its a goodun and how it's been treated, but as I said engine wise they tend to be pretty sturdy beasts, need lots of revs and well timed gear changes to make the most of 172 bhp, tend to run out of puff fairly quickly in top gear, but as with any motor you can get good and bad ones, hope this is of some use mate:)
