no i wouldn't bother look @ all the people with a de-cat = invalid insurance
remap will prob not be checked if u crash.
A decat does not invalidate your insurance as long as it is declared (could argue that it is included in the decleration as a "non-standard exhaust system"). A decat in itself is not illegal.
how can a decat no be illegal when ur car wont pass an mot with one on ?
got a milltek one syas on it not for road use
just a question ???
Not worth it. No way would an insurance assessor plug in a laptop and download the calibration file thats on the ECU to see whether its standard or not, and even then they'd have to know what the file names of the standard and non standard cal files were!
When you re-map with the Rs tunner it clearly marks RS tunner in the log, so yes if they plug in they could possibly see it.. but erm.... who's to say the previous owner did it? & how were you to know? but then again it does store the date next to the log
As James said RStuner can tell you when it was last mapped. Yea im sure he wouldnt discect the map to check it but a date check would be quick and easy. if they suspected something they could take it furtherNot worth it. Think about it this way. If you are involved in a big accident that involves having to pay out thousands of pounds. Wouldn't you check the ECU to see what was done?
For the insurance company its a couple hours work that could save them thousands of pounds. And yes they have started to check things like this out more recently. Have heard of people being found without declaring it and ending up getting nothing from the insurance.
Get everything declared mate - better safe than sorry
Good advice there me thinks!
You gona declare ure's tigger?
they will and do check on loads of cars sporty stuff will be checked more often than not regardless of turbo cars or notI wouldn't bother with a remap tbh its not something they look for on N/A cars like a 172. On turbo cars that get huge gains then yes they may check but doubt they will on a N/A car i doubt it.
I do believe in declaring mods hence why my cars standard because i'm under 25 and with directline but a remap isnt something I would be desperate to declare.
it may well be and then your stuck with no insurance why bother paying insurance if your not going to keep it validno i wouldn't bother look @ all the people with a de-cat = invalid insurance

they can and do though won't take a second to relise the maps on the car arn't standard never mind the file names they just check mapsNot worth it. LOL at insurance companies not checking things like this!
Insurance companies are in trouble, share prices have plummeted, and most have pension problems.
Do you really think that they won't do 2 hrs work checking this to invalidate your insurance and avoid paying out on a £10k claim?
i'd say its mapped for smoother running, better mpg
Well i have my silversions on my inusrance mod list, so that should tell you my opinion.
