  Jap Shed
I bought my 172 (ph2) a few weeks ago and was told it had an alarm as standard.
(The salesman just assumed and didnt physicaly check)
I called the garage and had a moan saying that its missing but they are adamant its there. i am going to the garage this afternoon to push for an alarm to be fitted or a discount ect, i am going to say that i was misinformed and wouldent have bought it if i knew what do you guys think is the best way to deal with this?:evil:

Probably an import then. Were you aware of this? Have you told your insurers it's an import?

if you was told it has an alarm and it doesnt, say you want the garage to fit an alarm for you, or you will send the car back to them.

you have been mis-sold the car on the basis it had an alarm

AAARRGGHH! now in confused! (and relived) just got off the phone to the DVLA and it was never registerd in another country it came to the uk direct fron the factory!!??

I had the same problem and quoted the sale of goods act etc to them and they finally agreed to pay for an alarm install for me. If they hadn't then I would have demanded a refund.

The DVLA also report my car as a original UK model but Renault disagree. Phone Ren customer service and quote the chassis number to get the full details.

thats what i am gonna do, a cat 1 alarm ??
DVLA = uk car
RENAULT = import
DIRECT LINE = uk car ( imports have 16/17 digits as the chassis no, uk cars have 11 or 12 cant remember now, mine was 11 or 12.
rang up trdg standards and i have a good case, quote sales of goods act as you did!

al

  ST on the way...
If they say it comes with an alarm and it doesn't then they have mis-sold you it.

Cliobritt, you've been told the exact same thing I was by the DVLA and Renault. I had a cat 1 alarm fitted as this is what should have been standard in the car, I also got them to give me locking wheel nuts as these were also missing.

You are fully covered by the SOG act and if they sold it as a UK car with alarm then they will have to either honour that or offer a full refund.

No matter if its an import or not, the alarms on these cars are fitted when they enter the country?

when going thru PDI or at the place where the cars are kept?

  172 Cup
Those statements or questions Has?

Either way UK spec cars have their alarms fitted when they enter the country meaning this one either slipped through the net or it's an import.

If it's an import then it's still fairly important as he's paid for a UK spec car and his insurance company think it's a UK spec car.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!
I went into the showroom with a mildly pissed off face and spoke to the guy who sold me the car, he was apolagetic and said he they sell cars on the spec form for each car - this one said the car had an alarm.
he spoke to the manager and they are gonna fit one tomorrow morning and give me a courtesty car !

All i need to know is what thatcham grade the standard alarm on a clio is so i can make sure this one is the same for insurance...
