SHOULD I ROLLING ROAD MY CAR BEFORE GETTING TIMING BELT CHANGED ?

This is a bit random i know.

And i may sound paranoid after reading the 162bhp post

My cars away to get a timing belt and aux belt done tomorrow, i was thinking would i be better to cancel it by a few days and Rolling Road it before and after to see if its set up the same ?

Meaning they've not missed a tooth etc putting new one on and put me down on power :(

Its going to a renault dealer dunno if that makes any difference :S - not evans halshaw though, i've found there crap for customer service etc etc.

Its was £500 odd all in which i thought, that was not a bad price.

Or do you's guys think they'd get timing spot on as they probably do them kinda jobs all the time.

What you guys think ?

wasted expense personally, a tooth out would make a noticeable difference to the running of the car.... if using renault they will use the correct locking tool which some local mechanics fail to use.

chances are it wont start, if it did start it would misfire like hell and most likely give the car the small chance it needs to have some valve/piston contact

as long as the person doing the cambelt has the special renault tools and knows what they're doing, then you'll be fine

  clio and civic type r
Im a mechanic at peogeot and fitting timing isn't hard as long as its refitted with the crank and the cam(s) in the same place it will be fine the locking tools are used just to make sure nothing moves out of place i wouldn't worry any way the place you take it to should guarentee their work

Very true.

Cheers lads

Not worth it.

The boy at the RR day yesterday said that a belt out of alignment would be noticeable straight away. Not much point spending £80 just to check.

Or missfiring ?

  Lots of Alfas
DOnt worry about it mate, if renault are doing it they will use the correct tools and they will have access to the manual with the correct procedure. Just make sure they change the belt, tensioners, camshaft seals, aux belt and tensioner.

Thats me got car back this afternoon :), it went in yesterday morning but they forgot to order an accessories belt kit :(

The cars running sweet no problems.

So thats me £538.44's lighter :(

Heres the prices from my Renault Invoice/Receipt.

The accessories kit was £107.15 Part number - 7701476674

The cambelt belt kit was £136.74 Part number - 7701477519

What are these plugs for below ? :S

"Plug La" was £3.08 Part Number - 7700274026

"Core plug La" was £6.64 Part Number - 7700106271

The rest of the invoice was in labour and Vat.

My radio had reset itself though :S , would they have had the battery disconnected to do the work ?

And when i started it sounded like a computer (making noises of a computer working inside the car)when i turned key.

The guy said it wasn't to bad a job just a pain in arse with something to do with the Locking tools on the bottom crankshaft pulley or something
