Ok on top of the splitter being smashed to f**k and the aluminium strip being scratched, there is also grey paint on the drivers side door on the bottom half. Hard to describe, looks like someone had a rag with grey paint on it and brushed it against my car. Cant try and T Cut it cos its absolutely belting down. Impossible conditions for trying to find stuff.

I havent even gone under the bonnet yet.

From what I have seen so far the performance is no where near special enough to warrant this trouble.
mate, as you say you havent even taken it about 4.5 k revs yet and that is where all the power is, under that and it is like a 1.2!

Give it a chance, sounds to me like you are trying to find faults with it and arent prepared to just take it out and put some miles on it to get through that breakin period.

The first thing I did when i got mine was to do 800 miles in two days to get to the fun stuff! All the rest can be fixed as long as the beast runs well!

happy motoring.

I am off work next week so hopefully I can get the splitter fixed then. They had better fix it then or the s**t will hit the fan. To be honest I think its a damn disgrace that they have had this car two weeks now fixing the engine management light and yet it turns up with faults.

It is absolutely shoddy, Id be too embarrassed to flog a second hand car with these basic problems.

When it stops raining for five minutes I will try polishing off the paint. Reluctant to let Renault near it to be honest as they will most likely do more harm than good. Same applies to the aluminium strip, might as well leave it as if they fit another it will only rattle.

They gave me a full tank of fuel but I expect they just put Asda unleaded in it so my first task is to burn off all the crap fuel and get some Optimax in there. That will be another few hundred miles on the car so it might loosen up a bit. Not taking it out until it stops pi**ing down though cos I want to check the oil and all the other bits and bobs in the engine bay first.

Noticed that both headlights are steamed up around the bottom? Anyone had this before? I am praying they will dry out as I use the lights but this never worked on my Vectra...

Yeah I said that but it was absolutely hammering down and the car had just been driven up from Southampton in that filth. I only noticed this stuff when I started washing it. It was hard to tell when I first looked round it, I was focussing more on whether the splitter was actually there along with all the other gear.

I thought the cracks in the splitter were just streaks of dirt or bits of leaf and all the other crap that was over the car. I had to get up close and look carefully then I noticed it didnt seem to be fitted straight...

They are bringing my car back all fixed!

New splitter is in place. The new dashboard strip is in place. They have stuck another can of tyre weld in the boot. The drivers one touch window is working. They headlamps are clear of water and not leaking. They have tightened up the left handside of the windscreen heater vent to stop it rattling (hmm I will check that tonight) and I blagged a free touch-up paint stick out of them.

There is a small one inch lacquer deep fine scratch on the boot about 3mm under the rear window and parallel to it. They would have to respray the tailgate to fix it but as it wont rust and its barely visible I told them leave it rather than risk getting the car messed up further!

One of those mobile paint repair companies could probably repair the scratch for 40 quid, i had a whold corner of a bumper done for 60 and you wouldnt even know it had been matched in. As for water in the headlamps i believe this is normal for the 172/182 mine does it and they have always worked fine.

The headlight condensation cleared after I burnt off 50 litres of 50 RON fuel with the headlights on the whole time!!!!!!!!

I just touched up the scratch myself. Its one of those that if you know its there your eyes always focus on it when you look at the car but Joe Bloggs could spend half an hour looking at the car and never see it. Its not going to rust or anything so I will leave it be.

The car came back with a few funny looking scuffs and some brown/pink stuff on it! Fortunately Meguiars Gold Class wax is miraclulous as it seems to remove just about any blemish you can think of!

Will go out for a nice drive tonight. Got 200 miles to go before the run-in is over although to be honest I expect it was red lined in the 125 miles before I got the car!

Still raining! Ive had the car 3 weeks and havent seen it dry yet! Only photos I have been able to take were of the engine whilst its still clean and shiny.
