Show Cage

  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
Hello,

I now have 2 years no claims, so was going to buy a Sport. But its still around 4k fully comp.. So sack that. Instead I'm going to keep my Clio for a while untill the insurance drops.

I'm getting Coilovers at the end of April (Birthday present :D) So thats job one done. Next I wanted to put a Cage in..

But they're bloody expensive.

Is there anywhere that do like, show cages? Basically something that will look like a Cage, but isn't as expensive?

I have no plans on tracking or rolling my 1.2, so it doesnt have to physically help the structure at all.

Any help would be appreciated!

Insurance will love it when you tell them you've fitted one.

Also no one plans on rolling it's just one of those things and as a show cage has no structural rigidity it will probably just collapse on you doing more harm than good.

Id saved up for a Sport, I simply dont want to waste the money 75% on insurance. So the Cage insurance doesnt bother me.

And I know it will offer no support, I just want it to look good :p I just cant find any online to buy,,

Most insurers won't touch cages though.

Did you not read the last bit? They are dangerous but as long as it looks good i suppose that's all that matters.

I didn't ask for a safety lesson - I just asked where you can buy them as I'm struggling to find one.

If you want my advice, only cage it if you need a cage. After smacking your head on one 500 times it becomes a little tiresome.

I'm not sure you can even get fake cages. Maybe make your own?

why dont you buy a real bolt in cage,

then just move it to the 172 when you can afford one!! (assuming you want to go down that route on the 172)

i dont really think theyre that popular of a mod anymore so few places are supplying them!!
ktec used to bt i just checked and theyre not there anymore!! :(

wooooo, dont bite the lads head off, i had a show cage in my saxo vtr back in the day and it just so happened that the guy i sold it to rolled it (got a video somewhere) and the police, etc said if it wasnt for that cage he would be dead and that was just a bolt in show cage that mounts to the seatbelt mounting points. So please dont assume they are rubbish as theyre not, they help alot. I will find the video and post it up.
