He was overtaking at approximately 80mph, on a blind bend going into a 40mph, he’s local so knows the road too.

Sympathy, none.

I wasn't sympathizing, lol. Sarcasm doesnt come across very well in text. Did you see the dude?

Wow thats beyond stupid, especially in an old Mk2 Gti, they're hardly the fastest cars around.
Feel sorry for the ambulance driver tho.

Last September an LDV decided to try and jump across the junction as i was coming through from the opposite side, hit virtually head on and the the van slid round to the side of my door with the momentum.
The Romanians in it (not one of them wearing a seatbelt) decided to try and blame me until i told the police about the light filtering timings there as i drive it ever single day and the fact that there was a cctv camera above it!
Still suffering back problems because of it and only one of the Romanians broke his wrist the rest were all ok.
Took the emergency services from 7:30am to 11:30 am to clear the junction.

And not a shunt but while I’m here. This is what happens when a fuel line bursts under pressure

7 weeks in, been red hot all week then rained that afternoon. Was going too fast for the conditions and saw the car Infront a little late. Locked up and my car just glided. Didn't slow down at all.

The car I hit

Owned this for six weeks until some diesel was spilt on a wet road shortly before I arrived.

Opposite locked for what seemed like an eternity but alas hit the concrete pillar in the background and it was game over.

On the way to work at 5am, still made it in by 8am.

Not that I really want to be reminded of this loss, as it was without doubt the best car I'd ever owned and after so much hard work it still saddens me to this day!

Here's was my Supercharged Trophy...

I have a genuine fear of this hitting a patch of Diesel and or Aqua planing, as touch wood it’s never happened in my 13ish years of driving.

I've done some pretty epic aquaplaning in my time but luckily got away with it, never had the pleasure of Diesel or Oil. My favourite aquaplaning episode was in an ST220, giving it some on a wet but not soaking back road that I knew well. I took a bend at a reasonable speed to find the road flooded in front of me without much time to react, got the car pointing to the other side and the wheel straight and hoped for the best. Skated straight across the water and out the other side in one piece, but as I continued to drive I could hear strange tinkling noises all over the car. Stopped and got out to find all four jacking point covers had come off and were being held by the little thread of plastic on each. The force of hitting the water had knocked them all off, thank god for that handy little feature or I'd have lost them all none the wiser!

I did something rather like that in a MK1 Tigra I had years ago but I stopped further down the road in a layby to find it had took the passenger sideskirt completely off, so turned round drove back and found it floating in flooded patch [emoji23]
Gingerly drove back through, stopped next to it, opened the door and pulled it in, chucked it in the back and fitted it back on down the road.
Made me laugh [emoji28]

I went into the back of my mate at Scotch Corner roundabout whilst following a mate to the BTCC at Croft, he was leading the way and I didn't want to lose him so when it looked like he was pulling out into a smallish gap I planted it to follow him but he decided last minute to stop. Luckily I wasn't going too fast so the damage wasn't too bad, a wing, bumper, headlight & crossmember and It was good as new.
