Side Strips, Am I Missing Something?

just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this...

...before anyone says 'search', yes, i have done, and everyone says the same method, which dosent seem to work for me, hence this post...

...ive got a second set of side strips that have been color coded to the car, but i cant get the original set off...

everyone says the back one slides forwards, and the front one slides backwards... but however hard i try to pull/push them, they only move like 3mm max, hardly anywhere...

...am i missing something with how to get these off?

I find if you push with one hand in toward the car and then hit them quite hard at the end you are pushing from they will come off.

Last time I just wrapped a flathead screw driver in a towel and whacked them off.

dont use a screw driver! you'll snap the lugs then you will be farked lol, i find just hitting them the right dirrection firmly and sharply with the base of your palm does it.

Give them a good firm push and they should come off . There's probably a build up of dirt behind them making them a bit tight .

if you feel down the bottom of the strip there is a little square lug. this means you can push a flat head screwdriver wrapped in a cloth under the strip to help pull it. but essentially just push it really hard from the front and it'll come off.

Doesn't the drivers side front one have a securing screw? Im sure mine did.
They are hard work but as said you need to give em one hell of a push to get em off

How do you get them back on??? The plastic sort of lugs that the side strips slide into won't line back up again and I couldn'yt get it back on. Luckily I tried on a Clio at the breakers to see how easy it was before attemping to do it on my own car!

they do, some take a bit of persuasion.

hmmm, just a 'bit' of persuasion lol?

having a right mare again trying to get these off, they move like 5mm max from their original position, im gona end up just pulling them real hard in a minute...

To put them back on (took me 3 months to realise) You line the plugs up and push them straight in towards the door.

I tried sliding them in for ages as well.

so basically, these SHOULD come off with just pushing? no screwdrivers or pulling from the bottom or anything yes?

They should do mate . Mine do on my 182 anyway . Just push and they are off .

Yes they are held on by little runners which are probbly covered in road dust and such so will be stiff. If you've moved it a few mm your on the right track, push it so hard you think your gonna break it then it should come off with a big clunk as it pops out of the runners.

Get some one to hold the door or prop it open then put your hands flat on the bump strip and push towards the door and back and it should come off.

Sorry, confused. Did your plugs come out of the chasis or where they still in there holes and you just pushed the bump strips into them?

so the little bit where they slide out of, you just push them streight into the bit instead of sliding back in?

Nah one of my trims fell off, bought another from eBay.

Bought some clips from Renault as there is only like 4/6 holes have clips, I made it 6/6 lol

Push the locating lugs into the hole, then slide the strip forwards/backwards to secure it in the slots.

Jordan mate, if you look on the inside of your driver and passenger doors right at the edge where the door slam and lock is you'll see a grommet. Remove this and it will then become clearer how the front ones come off.
