silenced centre section

Have a 182 with decat, straight through centre section and KTR ultra backbox.

Want to quieten the car down a bit so thinking of a silenced centre section. Does one exist off the shelf? In the bore I need for the backbox?

K-tec sell a silenced decat in the 2.5" bore.

Very effective at muting the sound without killing it completely (still provides top end 'raspyness') & still provides the performance benefits of a decat

That might be the best idea. Id ordered some stuff there with them earlier so mailed to see if they can include that too.

I swear this de-cat is no quieter than a normal de-cat, seems like a gimmic to me, here is my old system with the K-tec silenced de-cat fitted, not exactly quiet, was so loud at 70mph on A roads as well.

I wonder how much the silenced centre section is that comes with the Ultra exhaust? Might try that instead.

I read the price as 60 before, 90 does seem a bit too dear.

Good question, Fitting it certainly increased the volume from having a cat but more in the top end, the idle and cruising volume did not change, however I have never fitted a straight through decat on it so I can't make a good comparison.

I will say though that my car is renowned as the quiet one amongst the local hooligans. When we do the tunnel run @ Heathrow I can't hear my car over the din of straight through systems!

Sitting at 70mph in 5th I was hardly caining it and it was so boomy and loud tbh, not just top end.
