SILVER - good or bad colour

  clio 172
my phase 1 172 got its first proper polish yesterday and it didn't look much different to when is has been stuck through a 1.99 safeway car wash!really wanted a silver one as thought the colour best suited this shape but now unsure!
had an alfa 145 before this in rosso red and when you spend the time polishing that it was worth it for the result.
this french thing on the other hand!!!!!!!
any opionions on colours

Easyist colour in the world to keep clean!

My dads silver car never looks much different wether I just wash it or wash, polish and wax it, still makes my life easier with my Black car to look after!

I find silver cars are subtle and understated. Silver can look fantasitc when its clean. :)

Blue looks nice with a wax:

As R-Jay says silver is a easy colour to maintane, but difficult to get that "Bling" when polished. On my old silver 172 I found 1Z metallic polish topped with Megs 21, then finished with Megs 16 did the trick.

we're forgetting guys the mk1 came in 2 different silvers, platinum and the iceberg later on..

The Iceberg for me always looks better, imo.. was the better silver out of the 2, :D

Silver will never look as amazing as the flat or dark colours when just polished but there is no reason that it should not look much better than it would having just been washed. The upside is they are very easy to keep clean most of the time as they hide dirt very well – and it is a classy colour to have a car in.

Car designers love it as it shows off the contours of the metal.

There is bound to be a backlash against them at some point though as they are very popular now.

Black is one of the best looking colour's when all polished up, without a doubt.

But i miss how easy my old clio was to keep looking clean. Plus if you get the tiniest of dents on a black car it really shows up, whereas you probably wouldn't notice with silver.

i love my black clio, and it does look good when waxed but i am defo getting a silver car next as so much easier to clean and not notice any small imperfection/scratches, which other people do, if it was silver wouldnt see um. i worry way to much, but i mite be tempeted back to the DARK side

Black is the best colour for a mean looking car but does take so much work to keep looking neat.

I'm pretty happy with silver

Silver looks nice and very sparkly and I do love the silver 182s but the colour's just so common.

There were about 5 silver cars parked at my work next to each other the other day, all different makes, it looked like a bloody convention.

I have to say the Monaco blue on the phase 2 172's just look fantastic, especially when clean. Very satisfying, and would definitely have the same colour again on my next car.

I think all cars suit a particular colour and for 172/182's it has to be Iceberg Silver. Don't know why it just does imo.

Whereas Seat Leon Cupras look best in red!

I do love my 172 in silver but i'm undecided what colour my next car will be, but there's a very good chance it will be silver.

Silver can look very good but ultimatly won't give the depth or bling of a darker colour!
