Sky HD box update

When I got home last night I knocked the HD box on to put some MTV Dance and Flaunt on while I did my dinner. When the box came on it was on the Sky demo chanel so I figured it must have updated during the day.

This morning when I went into the lounge and it was silent. Normally, even when in standby the fan in the Thomson Sky HD box makes a lot of noise. If I left the door open in the lounge I could hear it on the landing!! It looks like it turns off now when the box isn't doing anything.

Anyone else noticed this?

They go into standby mode to save energy. Sky confirmed this to me, they do it with the normal Sky+ boxes too. Well, if they are from the last 6 months or so.

Yeah I know that, but even in standby the fan never stopped spinning before. Now it's off and silent.

Ahh, I see. Oh well I dont know then. Really tempted by a HD box. Just got the Sky+ at the minute

is the light red or green on the sky box.

if its red then it is in stand by so you will need to go to services and then (5) SKy + setup and the setting is there.

My fan always stays off when its in standby but the last couple of nights its stayed on and been updating. I now have an anytime tv thing on the menu.

I did a forced update of my mum's new Sky HD box on Sunday so that she could get the Anytime TV function and the new Guide layout.
