Slammin' the Clio. But before I do that...

Basically, I'm gaggin to deck my Clio. One thing i'm afraid of, is the Coilovers on my insurance. How much roughly do they add to your insurance? Bearing in mind I haven't passed my test yet but just so I know for future!
I'm not sure if this would make any difference price wise, but I was thinking of just going on lowering springs the first year (different cost to coilys?), then, move on to coilys? Or keep it looking like a moster truck the first year then slam it?

Just need a little help and advice from the expirenced here!

cheers guys :)

Depends on who you are with.

The problem with coilovers is they can adjust and some insurers need a specific height of drop to insure you. If you go with a modified policy, or go with a company that supports modifications then the cost will be minimal in comparison to springs but the premium will be higher because of the specialist policy.

Mines was roughly 20% it went up by. Stupid stupid price. Iirc they do it by cm's I think between 0-5 cm it's 10% any more and it's 20%

When I took out my policy I checked to see how much more it'd be for when I add coilovers and it actually made it cheaper by about £20-£30.

They might just charge you like an admin fee.

Personally I wouldn't bother with coilies until at least I'm on the road (If you don't pass your test you will regret spending the money). They will raise your insurance plenty because all insurers will think of is badly fitted pogo sticks in your arches.

Mine's full monster truck spec and it doesn't really bother me.

My advice would be to hold off the modding until you have at least 1 year NCB.

Admiral are going to charge me about £40 extra for lowering springs I think, although I am 21 and 1 years NCB. However they will only let me do 50mm maximum, anything over that they dont insure for!

I dont think many companies are mod friendly at 17/first year of driving. Egg flatout refused lol.

Only possibilities are admiral/elephant/bell etc.

Or just don't declare them...
