Small Subs...

Hi guys.

I've only ever used a 12" sub in my audio setups, even when I used to have a 1.4 Clio and lost a third of the boot to it. As I move around more with work these days I value my boot space but due to the amount of time I spend in my car I like decent quality Audio.

As a way to scale down the size but keep a bit of kick in the background, I didn't know whether to consider something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220768168194&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI

A small 6" sub with a decent throw to it. I e-mailed the seller and he said they've had good results with these in enclosures as small as 6L so thought it may be good for a fibre glass box flushed into the side of the boot around the strut top without being too intrusive. If they were small enough then possibly one on each side.

I'm not expecting these to have the biggest kick or expecting them to handle the lowest freq's but wondered if they'd be enough to add a bit more colour to a setup without a massive enclosure.

Cheers,
Stu.

Pioneed do one that's a pair of subs, in what looks like a massive PS3 and is only 8cm tall.

Bit more than a cheap boxed sub but does what you need !

Going to put one in the next car I think...

there are so many things wrong with that "sub"

100w RMS is nothing

a 1" voice coil is tiny

its Xmech may be 30mm but its Xmax is only 9mm which is the safe limit and a lot less than most subs

using XXX is a blatent rip off of the RE Audio XXX (which is a proper sub)

Fair one, the quality of this particular speaker is questionable, but the idea of using a decent speaker in this sort of size. Would it be worth it?

As I said earlier, I've never bothered with smaller subs as I didn't think they'd be worth it so just wanted to guage peoples ideas and opinions.;)

Yeah, I think I'll end up going this way to try and keep as much useable space in the car as possible.

How well do people rate these little subs??
