"smart" repair "proper" repair????

Just sent a pic of the dent some silly ho put in my car to a repair centre, they said it looks like a "proper" repair not a "smart" repair..and it needs painting.
I dont understand this as it hasn't chipped any paint off...does these seem right or are they trying to pull the wool?? and instead of £50 to repair..its £125:eek: :dapprove:

a few pics to help you make your mind up...

Ive got a dent in my roof they said they are unable to smart repair as it has a crease in so they have to take all the roof lining out to get to it

think i will give it a miss and deal with the dent! lol

try some different places.

thatll 98% come out, you'll see a very slight ripple if you look along the panel.

if you want it perfect youre gonna have to spray the top of your door

Depends how good the person doing the work is, I can give you a number of the guy I use Steph but may mean some mileage to Swindonish or sweet talk him to come to you.

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
it looks very close to the verticle strenghtening beam in the door, if the dent is on it then a PDr guy can't get to it, i had one in my door and luckly it was 5mm to the left of the beam and it was alot bigger than than yours was it was a crease about 5 inches long when someone with a jeep had really whacked my door with theirs, now you would not even know it was there.
but thats if your guy used the invasive rod method(push it from behind the skin), if hes a hot glue then he should be able to pull it out (as its a surface repair)

Arrgghh..even more peed off..just re-read the email..its actually £125 + £55 + VAT!!!!!!!!

It really dont look like a crease to me..just sort of pushed in.
feel like having a go myself..lol.

Lol Rich..how fars Swindon from Hemel??

That will push out no worries, i had 3 vertical lines in the back quarter of mine.

My mate got them out in minutes.

I had a dent / crease in my door that looks the same as in your pic , it was taken out no problem with the pdr guy i used . He also took out 2 in the roof , so anybody who says the roof cant be done , it can .

If they say they can't do it , try a different pdr guy .

Will phone about a bit more I think..£200+ for a little dent is f-ing ridiculous!

i got a few tiny dents on my bonnet n roof, aparently the women i brought it from said, the accorns fell from the tree n dented it, but its odd, if u run ur finger along u cant feel a dent, but u can see it in the paint??

but only when its clean.. when the car looks used condition u cant see anything

just wondering on what kinda price u think it would be to get these out and how easy?

(i saw a self removal tool add glue to the car then just pull em out with a rod attached)

there about no bigger then the size of a 10p peice maybe size of 5p

thanks

I reckon you could get that fixed with Paintless Dent Removal...then if there is any paint to touch up you could probably do it yourself and make it look good.

Dent Devils or Axi Dent are good companies to try but check on Yell.com or something there should be loads to choose from, some will even try fixing it and if your not happy you don't pay...

Thanks Tommy boy! it hasnt even removed any paint..it does have a little grey paint from the car that done it..but i can get that out myself.

I'm sure it will be fine then...on my old Ka (yeah I know...) I had a close encounter of the pillar kind in a car park and absolutely fucked the bottom of a door and rear quarter, bent metal and paint scrapped off and that cost me about £200 to get done (although slightly reduced prices) I would think your dent could be done for less than £100, then a bit of a polish and touchup with paint it will be fine...don't worry!

Hahaha maybe I shouldn't listen to your advise if you used to own a Ka...lol
Respect levels have dropped considerably;)

It was actually a nice car with a few subtle mods...and in the coolest colour "Panther Black"...used to be scary in the corners though but that was the fun!

Come on it was my first car I was just pleased to be driving and having my own car!

Obviously as everyone on here are billionares you all had Porsches for your first car then "upgraded" to Clios later on....;)

Mine was R reg and got it in 2003 I think...was a good little runner, never any faults except a suspension arm which cost £25 to replace and the 5th gear needed replacing which a guy at my dad's work did for £80. Bargain!

Think I did well with it though...bought it for £2300, sold it 3 years later with about 20000 more miles on the clock for £2000, so cost me £100 in depreciation a year, beat that!!! Sold it to a neighbour who got crashed into a couple of weeks back and was written of, RIP Ka!:(

haha only playing..lol..them little things fly..being about as heavy as a tin of beans.
I must be uber cool as my clio is my first car.

Wow Rich..that looks like a new car...yo the man!!

Also had some better news after taking my car to a garage so they could see it properly..
and they said it was a "smart" repair.:D

It was good to drive except for the brakes which were s**t!!!

See I told you about the dent, how much they quote you?

  Mito Sportiva 135
Thats not so bad but annoyingwhen its not your fault...hope mines cheaper reckon about £20 as I know the guy, good money for 15 mins work though!

  Current ride - my Adidas!
used to work with a cold repair guy who did a demo where he had a bar with a golf ball on the end, whacked a bonnet with it so there was a really big dent and then time-lapse photo'd it as he repaired it. stunning and the dent was so much worse than your door. good dent repair guys can name their price, i heard of a bloke working at a volvo factory correcting the same press dent on every new car that came off the production line and he was earning 25k per quarter doing 3months on 3 months off (is that more or less than £60 per clio door lol?)
