i tried clay today, didnt seem to do anythign though

Do you have to spend adges on each part?

i wasn't as impressed as others were making out, I just worked it panel by panel, I can definately see the difference in the shine, washing the car afterwards was much easier and much smoother as well.

i got this but havent used it yet - waiting on a good clear weekend to totally mint the car :D

Fantastic results, like others never noticed an increase in shine myself from claying, but the paint always feels so much better after.

Clay is .... well clay.

You use a lubricant such as Quik detailer or watered down car shampoo in a spray bottle. You rub it over the paint work and it picks up all the s**t. Then u just fold it in to a nice piece. Leaves paint feeling glass like smooth ready for application of wax/polish.

What is clay and how do u do it ???
this is the product - http://www.meguiars.co.uk/cgi-bin/specwd.pl?pc=G1116&tp=0

You can get it in most car accessory shops

It uses the clay to get rid of stains and other chemicals etc on your paintwork i.e. tar spots. that a normal wash won't remove.

You use the detailer spray to stop the clay sticking to the paint surface and you rub the clay on the surface of your paintwork to remove stains .
When the clay bar surface your using gets dirty, you knead the clay bar until it becaomes a clean surface again. ( bit like bread making ;) )

I must warn you though, If your expecting to do this in 5 minutes, don't bother, it can take a minimum of 1.5 hours to do... :dapprove:
But the result is WELL WORTH the wait :D ;)

just finished doing mine, no more shinier but i never its has removed all teh tar spots

I had loads and loads of tar round the front wing/side skirt and suprisingly on the bootlid.

Can i use the clay bar again?

i chucked mine, how many did you get in the pack? don't know if someone has been messing with the boxes in halfords because I got two in mine.

i got one in mine, hmmmm

its not that dirty so im sure i can useit again. i should have split it but never thought about it

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
yeah I split mine, so I've got 1 and a half left, but I've used quite a bit of the detailer.

You did well, should be one Block!

I split mine into 3, after use I save it for the wheels before chucking it away.

Mix up some car shampoo and water in a spray bottle - much more cost effective

Did mine with the clay this morning and now know what all the fuss is about, very impressed! (shame it started raining when I had done it).

Didnt use mine for the wheels (had alloy wheel cleaner and a small shaving foam brush for that but I must admit the clay got a bit dirty :D

So I sat there after I'd finished for 25 minutes kneading/breaking and spliting up the clay.... Looks good as new and ready to use again ;)
