Snow Leopard - 28th August

  133, 182, Kangoo 182
At Cancom we've got about 20 copies left in the warehouse and most of the stores are sold out. :/

Edit - Ok maybe not.. 50 in each store at last stock update (but none left in warehouse).

Installed on my iMac and Macbook. Macbook runs a LOT faster now and cooler/quieter. Impressed :)

Installed on the iMac now, 22 minutes for a clean install which is great. Some new looking dock menus and much better app minimise sorting/placement than Leopard had.

Nothing majorly different looking though but I think most of the changes are performance enhancements.

Apple will tell you it's a revolutionary cutting edge OS. From all I've read it's just x64 Leopard, most of the other 'features' are things MS put in most SP's (quick boot/shutdown, performance enhancements).

Just underwhelmed given it's been in the pipe for some time.

Installing on my iMac now, had to backup all my important files as I'm opting to do a clean install.

MacBook Pro to follow.

Will a clean install remove all your downloaded apps too or is there an option to leave the applications as they are?

The standard install will leave all of your apps and replace only the OS files. Run the installation from the desktop for this.

Installed earlier, tbh I've noticed the whole Mac runs quicker with Snow Leopard installed ...

My 2006 20" iMac runs well under SL but nowhere near as well as my 13" MBP is running. It is rapid.

One of the major reasons for upgrading is the exchange functionality in mail........ work emails, calendar, contacts and so on.

Entourage was very buggy and threw random errors all the time.

It's not just x64 leopard as it has all been re-written and lots of old legacy stuff removed.

The exchange functionality is probably the single best feature of it.

I don't know if it's just me but my Mac seems to have started to freeze with some programmes since installing Snow Leopard.

I'm not sure if these are compatibility issues, or a fresh install maybe in order!

Yeah i noticed this, especially with parallels for me... seems to be ok now that i updated parallels, it seems to be updates to indiviual programs are needed more so then fresh install.

I was going up to up grade to this but now I have looked at the reviews on here and the Apple site, I don't think I will bother and stick to my old trusty tiger.

Every mixed reviews about it so don't know if to trust it.

I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard now so that I can go on the Mac App Store just so I have the Soundcloud App, is the install easy as there seems to be a few compatibility issues after reading the above?
