Snow + M40 FML

Just had the longest car journey that usually takes under 2 hours.
Left Birmingham city center for home in Berkshire and clocked a long tiring 10 and half hours usually a straight forward trip on the m40.

But the M40 was a joke - no sign of any effort with snow ploughs or any salt being spread at any point. But funnily saw two snow ploughs going in the opposite direction whilst in standstill traffic!
Ended up leaving at jct 9 and using the a34 which was to some extent better and then onto the m4 which was great no sign of snow and could actually go through the gears of the car!

My Clio (gt) was superb in the snow though cannot fault it any way and performed much better than my old golf gt tdi (140) in last years snow. :approve:

Took the GF 12 hours to get from Maidenhead to Sheffield using the m1. Absolute joke.

You were heading southbound on the A34, that was clear. I was stuck heading the opposite direction, it took me 4 hours to travel 7 miles to Oxford

My mate is still stuck on the M1 I think. He got on around London at about 1pm yesterday. Last time he updated his facebook was about 3am this morning saying he's still on there and has moved about 30miles at the most :S

bloody hell 12 hours!! i thought 4 hours to get from dudley to cradley heath and back was bad! normally takes 3 mins to get there and 3mins back!. i feel for all of you who have and still are stuck

My GT was good in the snow. Before i had it slammed......Gutted for you, i think im most at risk of having a heart attack when im stuck in traffic.

A good friend of mine was also caught in that mess! He said idiots were aslo taking up the hard shoulder so no gritter or emergency services could pass so to get them through! The police made a 5th lane by pushing people across but as soon as a police car went through motorists filled that lane also making it totally impossible to pass. I would have given everyone in the hardshoulder a ticket!!:evil:
