Snowfoam

  Clio 182 & Saxo VTR
Ive just taken delivery of my megs polisher and im looking at the cleaning process now and was wondering with the snowfoam, can i just use regular megs gold class soap or does it have to be there specific soap? Im aware i can probably use the megs but should i expect not as good results?

Cheers.

If you have a foam gun, super spray or foam lance for a pressure washer it is worth looking into, would not use conventional bucket washing.

Sorry Rich i dont think i explained my point properly. Im looking at buying a foam lance and was wondering if its required to buy the soap for it or whether i can just use normal megs?

You will get better results with a foam type product yes if you want shaving foam type results, otherwise normal shampoo will be ok.

I use a small amount of snow foam mixed with normal shampoo myself as I am not 100% convinced how was friendly they are.

I was thinking of using snow foam with the sprayer first to get rid of all the crap then washing using zymol prioducts. Can I mix the two or will the snow foam break down the waxes and polishes I use ???

Thanks

My main reason for not using it much is I am not sure how wax friendly it is, don't want it stripping the waxes!

I use Super Snow Foam and whilst I initially thought it stripped waxes, I think it is safe. Having said that I think Chemical Guys Maxi Suds is a safer product to use.

I have heard it "confirmed" Snow Foam is safe to waxes and sealants but I would like someone to do a proper test really to verify this, because if its not I will stop using it on mine!

Rich do you use the piddly little bottle of Maxi Suds or do you know if there is a larger size available? The small one runs out after like 3/4 uses!

About 1/3 or 1/4 the bottle at a time by my calculations...small bottles though, and like to make a nice strong solution.

Snow foam is basically a mild TFR with an added ingredient to help produce foam when used with suitable foam lance or spray bottle.

The chemical used to produce the foam can actually break down the cleaning process of the solution if too much is used in production.

So a milder mix may even work better?

isnt that going to strip your wax ? using such a high shampoo concentration

I don't think so with the Maxi Suds, its pretty mild, and a lot of it I leave to dwell on the wheels and arches. This is mainly on customers cars mind - some of them come in minging and absolutely no protection so don't think it matters there! On my own car I use less, but probably prefer the Maxi Suds over the Snowfoam in general - hence wanting the Maxi Suds in a bigger volume.

Matt - I thought so! As it smells and feels like TFR. Having said that I have used it on my own car a couple of times and not noticed it deteriorating the wax finish, but maybe if I used it more often it would?

Same here, never had any issues with regular 'snow foam' use deteriorating my wax layers during this summer before I broke my foam gun. :( But then I was testing a new wax or sealant every over week. :)

Yeah I like to keep a few layers of products on mine so probably wouldn't notice anyway mind.

Having said that I don't like TFR in general though, can leave some terrible marks on the car if you leave it on and the sun gets to it in the summer.

Basically used on trucks for cleaning crap of them, hence my reluctance to use it on my nicely waxed car!
