but for some reason it kept dissapearingon the straights ...even more than the focus in that vid.
the focus would have to be 350 bhp and AWD to get away from the clio.

power isn't everything.
Altough I wouldn't mind a Fors RS now, even if I couldn't shake of 10 year old corsa ...

slightly related, we have had an RS arrive. Its quite a car - makes a colleagues E46 M3 look quite anorexic.
I've driven a host of more complete cars, although none quite offer the same value for money as the RS.

In pics the focus looks way ott. In the flesh they look fantastic. Saw a blue one running with a GTR, and the FRS had more road presence. Still wouldn't have one, plenty of cars I'd rather spend £26k on.

I saw people speaking about prices earlier in the thread, the Focus with options is just over £28k, so you could get a Clio for half the price.

Just goes to show ultimate cornering speeds aren't that different between cars, it's all about the extra power to pull you out of the corners or the better brakes/stability to reel someone in going into a corner.

Cool video but it definitely doesn't make the Clio a giant killer as people have suggested. Personally I'd have the Clio, the lighter the car the more it appeals to me.

Yeah, I know its a tad odd, but I just cant get over how much I love the R32! People say they are dull but thats about the last thing I would say about mine, Its all IMO though!

As for the 25k thing, yeah its the one car that I would change too (that suits me) I would be happy with the golf over most other things

Aye wasn't doubting the R32, more the 25k thing. Plenty other things I'd spend 25k on than the FRS. It would be considered though.

R8 is very do able, the running costs really aren't too bad. I looked into one pretty closely before buying my G.

The G costs a bit more to run though.

I remember the willy getting beaten on a track by the mk2 172 in evo.Breaking,acceleration and more G in the corners,how do you think it would be more grippy than a new better handling car.

Bought Autocar last night to read the hot hatch test shoot out etc and the 200 cup really sounds mint.

I've seen the AG 200 in the flesh unlike most people commenting on the looks I suspect and it really does look awesome. The colour is much better in daylight than the pics show and the nose isn't bad at all.

As for the price comparisons. The fact is if you want a Focus RS like now you will be paying £30k for it. My mates garage is banging them out the door at that price. £27.5k cars with options selling for £30k now to people who don't want to wait till september. If you want a 200 cup you'll get it in a couple of weeks from a stealer for £15k including AG paint etc.... So the half price comments stand.

rs clios are awesome, but as said if you got the money you would have the RS Focus all day long.

i personally think it is a lot more fun cornering faster than nailing it in a straight line.

amen to that. but then there will be countless bitching about renault reliability and it being 0.5 - 1 slower to 100 or something.

You know the Clio 200 laps Bedford West in 1min 32seconds...the Focus is only 1.2 seconds faster with a time of 1min 30.8seconds...that's not a HUGEEEEE difference. Certainly small enough that the lap times would very much be down to the drivers skill rather than one car being significantly faster than the other. Pretty much what was shown in the video in the original post.

I just know if I had spent near enough 30k on a Focus RS and couldnt shake off a 15k clio I would mighty annoyed!

The Focus RS is a nice car but cant help thinking they missed a trick here and shouldve gone crazy done a 4WD 350bhp+ version instead!

Plenty more cars I would buy for 30k to be honest, either a megane R26R, or I would pay a bit more and get an M3, Evo, or RS4.
