So what's all this about a strd airbox being better than ind kit??

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
Manufacturers spend millions developing engines and ancileries to give the cars optimum performance, so why go and spend £60 on some tossy old w**k filter just coz its advertised in max power. In my experience 90 percent of performance off the shelf filters dont work.

Even burt runs a standard GMC filter on his "78" 455 SD Trans Am

Someone needs to make a sticky with this information, this question comes up every day and no one ever agrees, Matt is spot on, if you want a bit more of a grunt, get an external filter, wont give you anymore power, in fact, will probably lose you some…

  Weeman sucks ****
A maxogen would make a difference but doubt anyting else without a decent heat sheild. It's too close to the engine so sucks in all the warm air.

  Bye Bye 182....
stick with the standard airbox and get a bloody panel filter. Job done end of.

Im really starting to get brassed off with this question every other day!

Agree

So much marketing BS these days with airfilters.

I can understand running open cones/IKs on heavily modified turbocharged cars where the requirment for air outstrips the airbox but on most clios the factory setup is fine.

I for once have resisted the temptation of some noise and stuck with the OE airbox and a Green panel filter:D

Its not as bad as the "my suspensions knocking" thread every other hour!

Stick a panel filter in there or save up for the maxogen and then map it to get optimum performance.

dunno about other after market filters .but i have a K+N cone filter in mine sounds awsome but i found out soon as we get the warmer weather the performence takes a dive big style.it seems to lag thats why iv just put in the wanted section for a standard air box.so in my experience the standard air box wins...save ya 280 pounds and get ported and polished manifold job:)

  clio 200 F4Rt
like i have said before, there are only 2 decent induction systems for the clio... standard and throttle bodies!! :D

Right well I guess that's sorted then. If standard is good enough for Burt, then it's good enough for me.
Just gotta find a standard box now...........oh joy!

Anyone know where I can get hold of an airbox, brand new or 2nd hand (like websites etc.)
Also, do I fit one of these ITG panels in when I get it, or am I talking nonsense again???

Must be a few good Renault breakers around....if you doa search on here I'm sure you'll find some.

As for the panel the ITG seems to be the most popular choice on here but I chose a Green cotton one as it's cheaper and also has a good rep. for being quality:D

You probably won't notice much difference but the panel can be cleaned and re-oiled and won't need changing...just nice, peace of mind....fit and forget:D

yes i found this. but with more cold air feeds and a heatshield its now as good as with original airbox and sounds jolly fat which is wat i got it for
