I bought a similar one last year, used it for 20 mins and sold it on. That configuration just feels wrong.
How does the new PSN (paid for) compare to XBL?
I'm genuinely interested as the current PSN is awful. I like to 'party chat' while mates are in different games/lobbies.

It's too early for me to make a decision yet, but I'm completely torn between the new consoles.
My mates are split down the middle. Some sticking with PS, some jumping from MS to PS, some sticking with MS. None are jumping from PS to MS though.
AFAIK, the new consoles aren't backwards compatible with older games? If this is the case, there's no reason to be loyal, it's a clean slate, no tie decision.
There are only two reasons I prefer the 360: Controller and XBL. One of my PSN friends have said the new PSN will have cross game chat, if this is the case, it's a HUGE plus point, and leaves less reason for me to buy the XboxOne (I'm sure there are 3rd party PS controllers which look like the 360/X1).

This is the problem, people are getting their information from non-official sources. There is a lot of inaccuracies out there that are being taken as fact and the gaming press love it as its generating traffic to their sites. Nobody wanted to read about the good stuff, they want to read about how Xbox is about to bomb and MS will crumble. The pack mentally starts to kick in and everyone is saying they are going PS4 without fully assessing either console.
With regards to the Kinect one thing that you can be certain of is the support by publisher greater than it was for v1. Why? They know every Xbox One owner has one. Previously a game designer could have has some awesome innovation for Kinect support in their game but why waste the developer hours and cost implementing it if you cannot be sure the customer has the hardware present to use it? Now they can and with a device that is so much better than the last.
Anyway, we shouldn't really be arguing which is best. We need both consoles to do really well to drive that competition and innovation so we all benefit as gamers.

I may be wrong, but from what I understand, it's not just voice activation but voice recognition, so if you are signed in on your profile it will only respond to your voice. So assuming you don't sound like your missus you're ok.

So its more advanced than the illuminate/deluminate light system in Demolition Man.

For the exclusive games obviously. If you want to be able to play all the best games then the only way to do it is to buy both.
I'd think twice about buying a bundle with drive club included as its available free to playstation plus subscribers (which we will all be now because its required for online gaming) at launch, with all the features it's been confirmed by Sony.

What about the next gen games we've seen this week makes they less than 50% as good as any pc game currently on the market?
what a load of rubbish, the ps4 is designed to play games, and with its spec it will do it very well and have amazing graphics. Sony have already said that the ps4 is going to have a shelf life of 10 years. And the ps4 is architecturally a pc anyway isn't it? Apart from not running a bloated os......

I'd say game are the more reliable when it comes to this sort of thing. Although if you want it guaranteed on launch day I'd say the best thing is to pre-order it instore for collection at the midnight launch there will be.

He's referring to the power of a high-end PC. A PS4's GPU is roughly the equivalent of a 660Ti (which is by no means a high-end card), a high-end PC would be the likes of a Titan/SLi setup so yes, the PS4's capabilities are much lower. As discussed in a previous thread the PS4 is being released already behind the top PC hardware and will be stuck at this already behind level for the next decade whilst the PC's still move forward.
There's no doubt the games still look good though.
i understand that, i dable in IT, but whats the point of a pc being twice as good as a console if the games are just as good or arguably better on a console anyway.
Its all well and good having a bugatti Veyron that will do 250mph, have any of the owners been anywhere near that figure?
With PC games the game has to work with a lot of different pc capabilities whereas on a console it can wring all its power as they are designing it for what they know the user has, its a bit like the apple store vs the android equivalent. You have an iPhone, you download an app, you know it'll work, same as buying any ps4 game, whereas with a pc you have to check compatibility, you might have something already installed on the computer conflicting with the new software or you might have to keep upgrading the pc to keep up with the games, much more costly than purchasing a console and knowing all the games will work on it for the next 10 years.
this argument will always be around, but from what we are seeing so far, and this is from launch titles where they haven't even begun to grab the full potential, the games are looking stunning, by saying the ps4 is 50% as powerful as a pc, you are insinuating that we are comparing a ps1 game to a ps3 game in looks, and that just isn't the case, plus console gamers are playing on a 50" screen sitting 6ft away, pc gamers are sitting at a desk with a relatively small screen and close to it, its a different environment.
To say that if a ps4 came within 50% of a high end pc he'd buy one is ludicrous, show me a pc game that looks 2x better than what we have seen this week, these console sole purpose in life is to play amazing games well, i think we'll be ok.
Oh and if the PS4 is only 50% as good as a high end pc, and the PS4 is supposedly 50% more powerful than the xboxone............
