Solid top mounts, are they worth it?

I haven't experienced any of the problems associated with the standard strut top mounts like knocking etc.

But I was thinking of upgrading to solid mounts, either the pure motorsport ones or maybe the ast ones.

Just wondering what peoples experiences were as to wheather they were worth the investment, and did they make a noticeable improvement?

New standard ones make most of the same differences.

We recently fitted new standard ones to one of our cars and pure ones to the other, on the road you would be hard pushed to notice any difference other than slightly more road vibrations on the pure ones, on sticky tyres on a track you will just about notice it though in terms of the suspension not moving about so it feels slightly more direct.

Compared to old knackered standards, either will be a big improvement.

Depends on what you use the car for, if its mainly a trackday car then get them, if its mainly a road car I wouldnt bother personally.

Its a bit of both really.

I just fitted new cup spec arms to increase castor which has definitely made a difference.

And I was considering fitting solid top mounts before I take the car for an alignment.

The car also has FK Konigsport coilovers fitted as well.

Given the track use, and the fact you are on coilovers already, I would say that the top mounts are probably worth doing in your case, especially if you do it before getting the geo done so you dont have to pay for that again.

PS

If you think you might ever want a pure strut brace too, you need to either buy it at the same time, or borrow one when you fit the top mounts to make sure they are orientated correctly or it wont fit later on!
