Some advice on improving paintwork

Had my 197 a week now jus gave it a quick wash last weekend. This weekend gave it a full detail inside and out.
After inspecting all the paintwork realised it was in a shocking state looks like it's been car washed all it's life and the plastics have never been treated.

The plan was
Shampoo, megs paint cleaner, AG Srp then onyx.

After after seeing the state of it I decided there was no point polishing it as it needs something more drastic so I used the paint cleaner then inspected it again. This has got rid of the hazing and holograms and reduced the fine swirls but it's still got bad swirling all over. I decided to just use megs nxt wax then cos I believe it has paint cleaners and fillers in? Just wanted to hide the swirls as much as poss for time being untill I sort out a plan of action.

So what should I do now? I want to get paint in as good condition as my old car which was hand washed all it's life. Well until I part ex'd it had a look at it on the forecourt the other day and it's covered in swirls and stripped of any
wax protection from their in house scrubbing brush valet! What a waste!

Yeh sounds like you need a good machine polish.

Keep in mind SRP will only hide scratches, not remove them.

No I don't, it's black. How much would it cost me to have it machine polished? Or I wouldn mind getting one but wouldn't know where to start?

Yeah I didn't bother polishing it. I jus used paint cleaner then stuck megs nxt wax on untill I can get the paint in better condition.

Meguires scratch x is good stuff to use by hand chap. Fair clears up the paint. Need to put in alot of effort though

Yeah got some but the trouble is would need to do whole car. Suppose I could do it one panel at a time. Is there anything else I could use by hand?

Could do a panel each time as I detail car every week or two jus keep using megs nxt till I get it all done. Spent 7hours yesterday does it take everyone this long? Lol

no way would i be able to scratch x a whole car, dont know how people find the time, patience, or the weather to do it in

id be buying myself a DA polisher and reading up about things, its not hard really at all

Deep Black is a bugger to correct though - I'd pay to get it done, then learn to maintain it with a DA.

use a wee applicator pad champ
