Some newbie help please!!!

Hello all.

After looking at a few 182's all of them have had cambelt & aux belts done within the last 2 years, the one I hope to see today had them done in 2010, not one of them has had the dephaser done... Is this a real worry, these are not cheap 182's either and generally dealer fsh?

How often do you replace the aux belt & when should you do dephaser, I always thought it was cambelt standard practise but obviously not, all advice greatly appreciated & hope to join in the 182 club soon!!!

  53 Clio's & counting
Welcome mate, aux belt is every 36k from memory, and at every belt change you must change the aux t kit - so when they say cambelt change, make sure they changed the cambelt, tensioners, idler and aux belt and tensioner.

with regards the dephaser, if they are looked after then they should last - lack of oil changes tend to be the killer for them, for example the engine I have just put in my ph1 needed the dephaser doing, and the mileage is supposed to in the 90k area, where as the black ph1 172 I used to have had 142k on it when I sold it and that was still on its original dephaser with no issues.

just get the engine warm, listen to it idling, normally a worn dephaser will sound a bit 'diesely' if thats a word lol, and once it is revved up it should sound better, as the dephaser cuts in at circa 1500rpm.

Cheers russ, the one I want to see says full cambelt kit & aux belt in 2010 so hopefully its the whole lot!!! Thats good info on the dephaser, this searching for a clio buisness is hard, I have had subarus for the past few years & thought that was a hassle:S
