Some people have no idea...

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
Went to look at a flame red PH1 last night, as my cup finally goes on sunday. Ive driven past it a few times and it looked mint, so I went to see the chap.

So I get there, long story short;

-Front bumper doesnt sit round the headlights properly
-Front bumper has no stone chips at all (recent respray?)

^Those 2 pretty much convinced me it has had a front end shunt.

-Scruffy Interior
-54000 Miles, cambelt not done
-Naff induction kit
-He ragged it from cold on the test drive, and he really hammered it
-Wheels were very scruffy, defo need a refurb
-ITS NOT TAXED
-Air bag light and SERV light kept coming on
-Strange whining sound from drivers side front wheel (bearings going?)

So, how much was he asking?

£4500!!!!!!!!

I said i wouldnt give him more than £3500 at best, and that was generous, and he told me I was being stupid, needless to say, we left it there.

He told me it had been for sale for about 2 months and hed not had a sniff, im not bloody suprised mate!

yeah, i saw a mint 22,000 mile axample 18 months ago for 5k, so this guy was nuts.

he was a complete to55er too which didnt help his case.

  cock mobile.
Lewis, has the Cup gone?! :(

Thought you were going for an R27?

Ph1 is a step back mate (flame suit ready).

didnt have muh choice tbh shaun, the cup needs a full gearbox rebuild and a service, so that was taken into account on the sale price.

i may only keep the willy for a few months and then go from there, we'll see.

Ahh fair enough, in that case, seems a good choice :approve:

I had a gearbox go in my Cup as well, luckily under warranty though!

And it's Sean ;) :rasp:

its normal that the bumper doesnt sit flush with the grill near the headlights, its a Ph-Quick thing, you wouldnt understand....

sorry sean, lol.

other thing is i cant afford to be without a car at all, I was gonna buy my ex's 1.1 fiesta for £500 to tide me over till xmas then get an r26/7, then i saw that willy and was like WOW.

If it pisses me off after a few months then ill change it, but not getting a new RS till my insurance is up for renewal (december).

maybe it is a minter hense no stone chips?

it was under the headlights, bout a 1.5 inch gap, and it wasnt an even gap on both sides.

plus the bonnet was covered in stone chips, yet the bumper was clean as a whistle, and judgin by the state of the rest of the car i dont rekon it shud of been, lol.

something about it just said 'walk away', just had that gut feeling that id seriously regret buying it.

yep, just edited my post lol, its normal that the gap isnt the same, but as long as the headlights are the same distance from the bumper then is ok, the grill never fits properly thus making the bumper look strange, but saying that it is a bit strange the bumper is mint.
