Someone has bumped into my car :(

I was parked outside the girlfriends house about a week ago and there was a knock at the door from the old woman across the road.

She'd came over to say she had reversed into my car which was parked on the street :(

She has kinked the rear 1/4 panel on the arch lip and the paint has started flaking on the arch lip and scuffs when things are in the boot or people are in the back :(

So now i have the job of going round bodyshops and getting quotes as she doesn't know if she wants to go through insurance or not.

She wants to see how much the quotes i get are first and take it from the on how to pay for the damage.

Does anyone know how much a new rear 1/4 panel is outta curiousity ?

I know most of the members on here are from down south but for the Aberdeen members does anyone know any good bodyshops in Aberdeen ?

I'm awaiting quotes from Specialist Cars, Kinghorn Bodyshop and Arnold Clark so far.

So any suggestions are more than welcome :)

Anyway for the pics.

To replace a rear panel I think you'll be looking at over 1k. It's not cheap. My dad reversed a trailer down my old 1.2 shed and the rear panel needed replacing, went through the insurance as the quote we got was about £1200.

shouldnt need a new panel.. mine was hit there at the start of august.. look up my thread to see pics. main impact was to rear wheel so mine needed a stub axle. 2 wheels refurbed and the dent taken out of the quarter panel. Quote was £978... if its only the panel thats damaged and nothing else I think it should be a few hundred. In the end mine needed a whole new axle too as replacing the stub axle didnt cure the wheel which was bent slightly inwards. I dont know what that added to the cost as it was all done through the other guys insurance! Now that its fixed, everything looks and drives perfectly!

This is what has happened to mine yesterday after someone reversed into me! but the dent and kinks go all the way down to the door. I took it to a body shop that i know the guy in and he said he would be able 2 repair it for £300 cash if the woman is willin to do that, so you may not need a new one if someone round you will be able 2 fix it!

If its compleate non fault which it is mate dnt even entertain the idea of a tap/ pull out. A compleate new rear quarter replacement respray and warrenty would be around £1350. If she agrees to pay privatly would be ok for you. If she wants to go through insurance give them a ring directly and make what is known as a "direct 3rd party Claim" they should bend over backwards to help u and get u in a replacement car. Failing that if it all goes abit pete tong. Ring a company Called helpHire they will put you in a replacement car straight away and roger the old ladies insurance for the bill just make sure you take out a "angel policy" with help hire this protects u from replacment car damage and hire charges. If you need any help pm i used to do alot of this in my old job

Sorry to see that mate :(

I'd go through her insurance TBH.

Thats what i'm trying for mate.

And i'm trying to get the whole panel replaced too as i don't want my car touched up with body filler etc.

I am trying to get this place to do the work

http://www.kinghornbodyshop.co.uk

But they were more keen on repairing it than replacing whole panel :(

But i'll keep everyone updated and there no danger i'm going without a car as a result of her mistake so courtesy car is a must to ;)

If she reversed into it surely its her fault? Old people are scary to watch when they drive. Sorry to hear about the car, hope it works out mate :)

Won't need a rear panel, she only hit the quarter !

That's literally on the edge on weather a panel beater would want to repair or replace the 1/4.

I've seem jobs like that at our bodyshop that have been repaired, but seen some like that, that have been replaced.

Atleast she didn't hit your alloys bud.

We sell the rear quarter panels for £60, but then you're looking at a fair bit for it to be fitted/painted.
Probs £300 ish for the painting/welding?

I asked a boss for a rough price on replacing the rear quarter on my mates Clio, said it'd be in the region of £1300 in our garage.

Don't be afraid of it getting filled and repaired, as long as it's done properly by people who know what they're doing you'll have no more problems with it.

its a fair treck but colin down here @ car n bike paint is one of if not the best about and very reasonable on priceing.

Cheers mate, but since i'm not paying the woman may not be keen on paying for me to get it down your way.

She will prob kick up s**t thiking i'm taking the piss.

I think i may be taking the piss a bit already by getting a quote from Kinghorn Bodyshop up here as its meant to be one of the best bodyshops in this area and probably the most expensive

Lol :)

Cheers for the other reply guys, i had an incline that it'd be near a grand ish for a new panel.

And most places would rather repair it i'm guessing as its easier.

Thank f**k it wasn't the rear axle and wheel as well.

Saying that i reckon i'll have to take my rear brakes apart as the pads aint clearing the disc properly and the pads, discs, handbrake cables and wheel bearings were only replaced in December :(

Rich, kinghorn are doing the bm on the 28th, best in aberdeen. I'm payin 700 to do the front end, not cheap, but they are an approved Porka/BM sprayer. That said the guys attitude was s**t!!! But it's a case of who you trust, this was a recommendation of polish bliss...

Something very similar happened to my brothers Civic type-r, he had to got through the insurance as he did not know who did it

Anyway the whole rear quarter was replaced! It was a good job though, you would have never known... His car was silver too...

Not at all, if someone has crashed into you, you deserve the right to get the car back to how it was exactly before it was crashed.

If that means taking it to an expensive bodyshop where the quality of work is good, so be it.

I crashed into someone and they did exactly the same, it was my fault and they had the right too - so didnt have a problem with it.

Dont think of yourself as taking the piss though, none of it was your fault

I heard Kinghorn were s**t hot thats why i got a quote from there, i'm just waiting for it to be emailed/posted to me.

They'll probably come back as the most expensive as the guy said there the most expensive in Aberdeen.
So i'm guessing Specialist Cars Audi/Vw etc will be next then Arnold Clark at the bottom and the cheapest,

So i may just give her the Kinghorn quote and say "There you go, heres a quote for you" ;)

As thats the only place i'd trust, i know it sounds silly as its only a Clio but i'm a fussy f**ker and they said they could do my stonechipped bonnet and bumper too.

£700 doesn't sound too bad for a whole front end respray neither.

f**k Kinghorn's attitude. Over priced for some of the work they produce. Yes they will do a good job repairing your Porsche but for smaller jobs there are prob. better places. Would be worth asking on EVW but it's down :( I replied in my thread with some thoughts.

I guess this being a bigger job they might be a good shout. Straightened out my mates dad's Porsche GT3 when it had an excursion into a field. Was then machined by polish bliss. You'd never know it was ever damaged.

Sorry to see this mate.

I had similar damage on my old clio where some prick kicked the side in, cost me circa £500 iirc.

Im a painter myself! If that was my car I would not want it filling! No way, but on the other hand having a new quarter panel on devalues the car as people can tell when you sell it, for example you can tell with the sealer when you open the boot! IMO go through the insurance and take it to a top notch bodyshop! Also when you collect it makesure you take someone with you whos clued up with paintwork to check it over! I work for THE largest bodyshop in the UK and theres still loads of sh*t jobs leave everyday which customers accept!

If you're still looking for bodyshops I may be able to help. I work for an accident management company and we use loads of different bodyshops. I could have a look at some when Im at work tomorrow if you like? PM me your postcode if you like so I can choose the ones closest to you.

Thats what i want to do but i guess its outta my hands, i don't want to be too cheeky or the woman may think i'm taking the piss and not pay out :(
As for a top notch bodyshop, thats why i went to get a quote from Kinghorn Bodyshop as they are meant to be one or the best albeit most expensive bodyshop in the Aberdeen area :)
I may just ditch the Arnord Clark quote and give her the Kinghorn one as i said before.
But thats three bodyshops (Specialist Cars Audi/Bmw/Vw/Seat/Skoda, Kinghorn and Arnold Clark) in Aberdeen i've been to so far for quotes and there all saying they can pull it out as its on the edge but they say it'll take a bit of work as its a double skinned panel where it was hit or something but still easier than replacing the rear quarter panel ?

So heres hoping the repair is top notch and that they don't just pull out the dent then polish paint up, hammer the kink on the lip of arch flat and touch it up with touch up paint where its kinked and flaked off :(

Lol :nono:

Heres hoping they respray the panel and don't get overspray everywhere.

And don't worry i will take my mate with me and be a picky f**ker on the repair and finish ;)

sorry to see that man and if se refuses to pay get onto the police mann they will give u her insurance details then get onto her insurance and they will pay

Don't take it to Arnold Shark! Like I said earlier on, if the place know what they're doing you won't be able to tell in the slightest that the panel has been repaired. Don't worry about it.

I was dubious about Arnold Shark too, but i have seen a few good jobs from there but i guess it varys from dealer to dealer and painter to painter. :S

The thing is with Aberdeen is you a limited with a choice in a lot of things such as bodyshops and performace tuning specialists etc as there aint any great demand up here.

You have to travel to Glsgow and south to get any choice, if you get what i mean. :( :(
