Someone to change steering wheel

  titanic killer
Is there someone in the lincs area that could swap my steering wheel over for me?
As i dont fancy doing it myself with air bag etc,i no to disconnect the battery 30mins before but still:S
I will pay them the going rate no probs and im willing to travel resonable distance as well?

Don't be such a jessy ;) it won't blow your head off. Just take the battery off and leave it for a while if you worried like you've said.

Its an airbag not a grenade, just be careful with it and you'll be fine.

lol,I cant seem to be able to work out how to take the airbag out?i.e how it clips off
Someone told me you need to take the fuse out as well as theres still charge there even thou the battery is disconnected?
Plus they only sent me one resistor in the boss kit and apparently i need 2

Disconnect the battery, wait a little bit and it'll be fine. The airbag clips off, if you look on the back of the wheel you'll see two slot you can push something in there to unclip the airbag iirc.

^^cheers
i think its the wiring the resistors etc as i only have one sent with the kit and need to get another 4ohm resistor from maplins thats what will get me i think
Surely theres someone not to far away that can do it for $$cash$$

I might end up driving too you fella, nice one
Just need to get the other resistor and ill get back too you

ok bud.pm me when you do,you literally just want it removing or you want the new one fitting?what are you fitting?

that link doesnt work bud.ill be honest and say i havent fitted an aftermarket one,but itll only take a few seconds to work out but i have changed my standard 1 3 times now so its plain sailing.

EDIT: does now-how odd..

thats the thing im getting stuck with,is taking the airbag off the steering wheel,
do you just push something flat into the 2 clips on the back of the wheel?
then wiring the resistors is not my fortae either, however bolting it back together prob will be,lol

  titanic killer
Oh right, then the bag would come out from the front, like with the front part with the horn etc?
Do you have to do both clips at the same time?
cheers

yep airbag comes off from front, one at a time you can do but you need to make sure it doesnt pop back in,ideally hold the side you have popped out with your other hand then lever other 1 out.just make sure when you pull it out you do not yank it as there are 2 wires connected to it for the airbag,1 top 1 bottom of it.then torx 50 iirc, dont undo all the way.then pull wheel then once off feed cables through then undo bolt completely

I think ive convinced myself i can do it now mate, lol
That seems pretty straight forward plus ill learn a little while i try it
I just wish they sent me 2 proper resistors as the one the sent has wires connected already and the one i'll have to get from maplins wont have
many thanks for your help Matt, nice one;)

word of warning

just don't do what I did when i changed my steering wheel. which is pulled too hard, and the 'white coil' came loose. :S its a pain!

you mean the airbag contact ring, that'll only come off if you pull it,its basically what spins to keep the contacts for the airbag touching as you turn the wheel, keep the wheel in the straight ahead position once you remove it and do not turn anything and you shall be fine,i learnt the hard way in my saxo-new contact and 30 quid later 2ND HAND! was sorted
